As
I thawed my frozen pasta dinner last night, I checked out the NFL
Network OnDemand Titans-Texans highlights. After getting in the hole
early, the Texans battled back to beat the flailing Titans, a sure sign
that the Texans are a team on the ascent beating last season's Co-MVP.
Even though the Texans had lost their three previous games, after
watching the highlights from Week 12, here are some of my thoughts:
- The Titans were dominating when they were
“outphysical-ing” the Texans. Early, Antowain Smith was pounding the
ball, the defense was delivering shots to receivers and the Tight Ends
were making tough catches and then delivering shots to the D-Backs and
getting extra yards.
- Containing Domanick Davis and Jonathan Wells is
important. During one touchdown drive, the Texans ran two HB Pitch
plays to the left, getting some major yards on the first, and getting a
TD on the second. If Davis can get into the open field, he can be
dangerous and break some long runs. - Beware of boots. In the Red Zone, the Texans love to run the
boot to score. Beyond that, the Texans also use a lot of rollouts to
their advantage, the young QB executes this well. - Don't make mistakes. Like any game turnovers are often the
difference. McNair forced some throws that were picked off at the end
of the game, which absolutely killed their chances, if Pennington
plays, hopefully this will not be an issue.
