Welcome to NY

Our exodus is over.

After years of wandering in the desert, the Jets and their fans have found their home,
and it is actually in the city which bears the name of the franchise.
It has been a long and arduous process, fraught with trials, but for
the pain, suffering and tears, we Jets fans finally have a home, the
Land of Beer and Nachos.

Just like the Israelites though in just
getting there, that isn't the end of the story. This thing is far from
over, and the Jets' organization have many battles yet to fight before
the kingdom is secure.

“Meadowlands Sports Complex, let my people go!”

After
the most recent nonsense with the Angels, I had wondered if the Jets
didn't get the railyards, would they be renamed “The New York Jets of
East Rutherford?” For the present, I am glad that this won't be a
reality. With plans to now move to their fourth stadium since 1960,
(Polo Grounds, Shea, Meadowlands… am I missing any?) this is the
first one that is primarily for the Jets, and more importantly, doesn't
bear the name of the crosstown rivals.

I understand that the
Jets stadium is just a vehicle for the Olympics, and the Jets hopped on
at the right time. I know that this was a tough decision for everyone,
(although the unaminous vote
would make you think otherwise) and that there are people who are
supremely disappointed with the Jets getting this stadium, people who
don't have Dolan as a last name. It is true that there are winners and
losers on this, and I see that fact. Truly, this stadium is a zero sum
game.

But I gotta tell you, I am glad that the Jets got it and I
don't really care that the other side is supremely disappointed. There
is enough expensive housing in New York as it is, why build more new
expensive housing?
