Audible: Bollinger's Play

I was thinking about Bollinger this morning and how he will fare against the Ravens.  What I was trying to think through was how the game will play out…

I want to know whether you think, barring injuries, will Bollinger make it through the game or will he have a short leash with Vinny on the sidelines?

  1. First ever start + Ravens Defense= Praying for Brooks Bollingers life.
My prediction(Not that it matters): Ravens win, in a slugfest….
    17-13
    Good luck Brian

  2. I think Bollinger rides out the whole game even if the offense looks rather inept. The only way I see Vinny going in is if Brooks self-destructs i.e. starts turning the ball over. The Ravens offense isn't much to fear so I don't see them putting 20+ points and needing Vinny to come in and go vertical unless again the Ravens score off turnovers.

  3. If the O-line's protection is similar to what it provided in the first three games, Brooksie will do OK. At least as good as Chad and probably better. Look for at least one, designed QB keeper to exploit Brooksie's running ability and Ravens over-pursuit.
But Herm will have him on a short leash. As PSL said, Brooksie will be in for the duration unless he turns the ball over consistently.
But I'd bet Herm can't wait to get Vinny in there, so Brooksie will be on a short leash. Heck, I bet he starts next week. Brooksie would have to star for it not to happen.

  4. My initial thought was no, they will simply stick to low risk passing and Brooks will play the whole game, but Herm was quoted on MSG sportsdesk as saying that Vinny will play if Brooks struggles.
We need to stay on the field longer, but in order to do this, we will have to take some shots, otherwise it will be too easy for the Ravens to crowd the line of scrimmage.
This will be a fascinating game this weekend, although it may not be much fun. Like most of you guys, though, I am resolute!
    Go get 'em Brooks!

  5. I know much has been made about how the offense has been pretty stagnant almost looking Hackett-esque. But my theory is that Heimerdinger was a man with his hands tied working with a less than 100% QB who did not/could not fufill much of the vertical passing offensive plays. I don't think the Jets brass will admit to it, but it was painfully obvious these past few weeks. Here was your franchise QB with a ton of pressure to perform due to a bloated contract, and so they gambled and LOST.
Brooks obviously is not one of Herm's Guys (i.e. Vinny) but I see this opportunity present itself much like Glen Foley situation when we started the 1998 season. I have a feeling that Brooks will play his HEART out, only to lose a close one in the end, and ultimately be forced to hand it over to Geritol Testeverde, who we can only pray has found the fountain of youth.
My thoughts are that Bollinger will have a good game but not good enough to keep the job. I mean, if we really put our faith in him he would have at least started once already? I dunno, let's hope for a Chad-like performance (circa 2002 that is) from our boy BB!

  6. I think the only way Vinny gets in this week is if Bollinger gets hurt. I think they will go in with an ultra conservative gameplan where they play for field position and curtis runs it 30+ times!
