I am sorry that I had not seen this sooner on Matt Schaub being a Jet next year, but it is an interesting scenario…
I just wonder if Atlanta would be willing to give up on Schaub, since
their running back seems to get injured a few games a season…
Here's a quick look at Shaub's Numbers
YEAR G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT
2004 6 33 70 47.1 330 4.7 1 59 4 42.0
2005 7 23 49 46.9 337 6.9 3 53 0 90.3
Andrea Adelson writes a lengthly article to recap the season thus far, and remind you of the reason for your funk…
Hey at least Pennington didn't throw 5 picks yesterday…
Did you see this note in Berger's article yesterday about Chad Pennington possibly landing as the #3 QB for Gang Green next season?
envision a scenario in which Chad Pennington would be the No. 3
quarterback next season. In that circumstance, Jay Fiedler and whoever
is acquired in the offseason would compete for the starting job, and
Pennington would have another entire season to get his right shoulder
healthy.
Does this suprise you? What do you think about this whole scenario? How do you think this will this all play out?
According to this press release, the Jets are teaming with TicketMonster to build a new portal system for aftermarket purchase for Jets' season ticket holders.
Mr. Coleman has added another diary entry to the Jets' site.
Erik is headed home to Spokane, Washington to see his old college team,
high school team, friends and family, and even got a new video iPod…
lucky dog…
Mawae posts on how his surgery went on his NFL Players page. Here is an excerpt.
question! I will return to NY this weekend where I will begin what
little rehab I will be able to do.
The Jets seem to like the lineman they got from the Packers right before the season started enough to give him an extension for two years.
The bit that kills me is the second paragraph:
Jets have major work to do along the offensive line, with tackle and
guard being two positions they'll address. They're expected to spend a
first- or second-round pick on an offensive lineman in the April draft.
I know none of us are NFL General Managers, but weren't some among us
hoping that with losing McKenzie, that the Jets would take Kalif Barnes
with the first round pick that they didn't use, even if Jones was to
start?!?!
This is the kind of stuff that drives me insane…
Since LaMont Jordan won the Offensive Player of the Week Award for the AFC, I thought it would be interesting to look at Martin and Jordan's numbers comparatively.
Att Yds Avg Lg TD
Martin 137 461 3.4 49 4
Jordan 115 432 3.8 24 7
Looking further, I took a quick look at Football Outsiders offensive rankings which is (basically) a good measurement of how efficient teams were in scoring and moving the chains. I know that there are other factors in play, but I wanted to see how the running games ranked of the Jets and the Raiders, this year and last. According to F.O. here are the numbers:
Herm Edwards was on Michael Kay today and answered some questions. I am curious to see what your comments are about some of what was said.
I saved the file as an MP3, but it is still almost 10 MB, download at your own risk…
A few days late, but with the bye, I guess I took my time.
Bills: San Jose Mercury Blog
Buffalo lost again 38-17 to the Raiders and our old pal,
LaMont “Chainsaw” Jordan. Props to Bent for remembering that he
did the move as a Jet first… once he jarred it lose, it did “ring a
bell,” we just never got a chance to see many LaMont
celebrations. Holcomb didn't make any major errors (minus one
fumble) but the Bills were not able to get the running game going and
that was the difference.
This week: New England (Sunday, 8:50 p.m.
ET)
Dolphins: Palm Beach Post Recap
When Hurricane Wilma decided to mess with weather patterns up and down the East Coast, the NFL made a last minute move
and bumped the Dolphins-Chiefs game up to Friday. Since the NFL
teams schedules, practices and gameplans are so heavily structured, in
a game like that you would expect to see the home team have a decided
advantage…well, not so much. The Chiefs won 30-20 in a game
that apparently, wasn't that close. The Chiefs played error free
football (minus 63 yards of penalties.. not too bad) combining for over
450 offensive yards and 3 touchdowns. With an offense like the
Dolphins, that's good enough to win a game. On the Homeopathic
Remedy Watch, Ricky Williams had 6 carries for -1 yards.
This week: (in Baton Rouge) at New Orleans (Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET)
Patriots: Larry-oke Recap (Bye Week)
With all the rumblings, injuries, and up-and-down games from
the Pats, it's clear that the week off was well needed for the
defending champs, to heal bruises, but also to mend some fences and get
their team together for the rest of the season. Apparently, Larry
Izzo, held a fund-raiser the other night at a local Boston hotspot on Landsdowne (right behind Fenway) to raise money for families of war veterans. Heck, even Mark Cuban was there as a celebrity judge! To check out more pictures, hit the Herald's site, but for starters, here are a few.
I must say that I admire Brady's passion and dedication… if you
are going to do bad karaoke (from what I saw on the news, trust me, it
was TERRIBLE) at least do it with feeling… to quote the great Bruce
Dickinson, “really explore the space.”
