Early report that Abe is going to Denver for the 29th pick. That's good value for Denver, but it's probably also worth it for us, as we're going to need to open up at $8 million in cap space to allow us to target a few mid level OL in free agency.
It remains to be seen whether we would keep that 29th pick or use it as the ammo to move up to #1 overall for either Leinart or (the surprise pick) Reggis Bush. If we stay put at 29, I think Eric Winston, DeAngelo Williams, Bobby Carpenter, Gabe Watson Laurence Maroney and Chad Jackson all become possibilities.

Trading Abe doesn't make the Jets better; it makes the pass rush terrible and means that we need to try to replace him. If that happens, forget Brick. How about DE Mario Williams, who just tore up the Combine? IMO, there are four players that, if Abe is traded for a no. 1 and Chad restructures help us immediately. Those are Williams, DT/NT Haloti Ngata, TE Vernon Davis and LenDale White. If we get two of those guys and then focus on the OL through UFAs, cuts and the rest of the draft (I actually like the OT and OG prospects slated to be drafted in the 2d round better…that's where the beef is going to be drafted), then this could be a watershed year for us. But, if Chad doesn't restructure, I think trading up for Leinart is a far better scenario than taking Cutler at no. 4. Leinart is NFL-ready; Cutler isn't. I just don't understand why everyone is dissing Leinart. His college career was awesome, his coaches have said that if they had to win a game they'd take him over Palmer and all of the DBs I heard were interviewed at the Combine who played against Cutler and Leinart said that there was no comparison, that Leinart placed the ball in the tightest areas and was great at looking off safeties. Abe and Brick for a possible franchise QB? That's a no-brainer…what good is having Brick with no QB to protect? I believe the Giants gave up Philip Rivers and Shawn Merriman (last year's no. 12 pick) for Eli and isn't Leinart an even better prospect?

Reggie Bush is not the best player in the draft for the Jets. We could pick up one of the top 10 FA rbs and be just as good as if we had picked up rbush. We NEED brickshaw. I will be furious if we trade up to get Lineart.

Denver actually has two #1 picks, the 22nd and 29th. The only team I believe with two in the first round

i don't really want to see us trade abe and our #4 to get the #1. i guess if they are that high on leinart, so be it. i think this is the lowest % of the possibilties. S.D> a couple of yeasr ago came out of a similar situation looking like gold, of course part of their return was a potental franchise QB. what i'm tying to say is houston is going to get the better of the deal. abe and d'brickashaw for leinart. some may disagree, but i'll say it's way too risky compared to getting cutler and one of the left tackle winstons. or best yet, trading down with our #4 and trading abe and stock piling picks for next year. this can't be forseen, but how a/b the qb from notre dame next year. brady quinn.
i think the trade with denver would be the best possibilty for us. the only down fall is that if abe gets shipped there and then T.O, denver becomes head and shoulders above the rest of the league including indy w/ edge and new england with some touch ups. on the outside i say the jets are a 3-13 team next year, but deep down i see pennington coming back and putting us in contention. if denver's scenerio plays out, they most likely go to the super bowl. and my inside feelings are just crap. alot of things do depend on the new CBA.
lastly, i wouldn't trade anything to washington. i hate this team as much as i hate our division. besides they don't even have a #1 pick. moreover they don't have anything we need or want, including lavarr arrington. on top of all that if we did trade abe to them, he'd probably have 25 sacks next year and be the mvp. lets not get outdone by these clowns again. i would give up a #6 for ramsey, becasue then we a ripping them off.
