Chad takes snaps Kliff takes hike

Ken Berger (and the rest of the beaters) reports this morning that Mr. Pennington is participating in this week's passing OTAs (I thought they were this weekend).
Pennington participated in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills, taking snaps in live competition for the first time since his right shoulder was repaired for the second time in eight months on Oct. 6. It is not known how Pennington fared in the workouts; reporters are not permitted to watch any portion of the voluntary passing camp at Hofstra this week.
Berger also states that the Jets have signed another WR and CB in the process and cut Kliff Kingsbury to boot.

One of the real nice byproducts of the Jets tightly closed media protocols is that reporters have started reporting news and acting a little less like columnists.
I must say it is suprising to get facts without so much opinion in a news article. I could get used to it.
h
Amen to that.
From what I saw in my nominated role as NFLEL reporter, Reggie Newhouse and Rashaun Reed (sp?) have decent potential. Certainly moreso than the two guys we let go. It will probably come to nothing, but well worth a look in each case.
Positive news re: Chad too, who may well be far from ready, but he's certainly ahead of where he was 12 months ago.
Off topic a bit, but here's what Gary Horton of Scouts, Inc. said in his ESPN chat:
Kyle (USA): Where do you see the JETS going with their now deep (if uncertain) QB situation.
Gary Horton: I think the Jets are in more trouble than people realize. I'm concerned about Pennington's arm strength. I hope I'm wrong, but if it's not great, then the defenses are going to jump his routes and close on the ball much quicker. I'm not sure he has the weapons around him, including an aging Curtis Martin. I think this is an offense that might be in big trouble.
Now, how much worse could the Jets offense be after last season? Plus, if Chad's arm strength isn't up to snuff, don't we have Patrick Ramsey, who for all of his faults is an upgrade over Brooks and has a strong arm. Only 2 seasons below .500 since 1997, yet everyone is down on the Jets. Vegas puts the Jets at over/under 6.5 wins and I honestly think that a 9-7 record is possible with their weak schedule. I guess we have to expect such doom and gloom after a disappointing and often feeble 4-12 season.
