I think this media *jihad* against Mangini, is kinda funny.
They honestly believe THEY are the story. Other than Rock's piece today, all beat stories led with some jihadist rant against Mangini's media policy.
Rock has jumped to the top of my media heap... he gets it...
it's about the team.
I commended him on his blog today... I told Cimini to get over it already... emailed Hutchinson to remind him the Preacher was gone... and I emailed the Jets, urging them not to be intimidated by the media.
I've done my job ;)
If you're annoyed by this jihad, take a few minutes & write these bozos. If enough fans write them, they may begin to get it. Well, at least you may feel better...

bassett,
why is everyone (including you to an extent) giving mangini a hard time about not naming a starting QB or giving updates on curtis martin or being paranoid about information?
please don't fall into the trap of the entitled media. mangini isn't being paranoid. he's just doing what's best for the team. as fans we could care less about mangini placating the media. we want him to win football games, not the hearts and minds of scribes.
so let me ask you this. if martin's career is truly done, why tradeoff the curiousity of fans for potential leverage in trade negotiations for a RB. are guys like cimini too stupid to see this or are they just ignoring this obvious fact so they can continue to write sensationalist articles that have nothing to do with football?
as for the QB situation and every other position, it's clear that mangini wants to keep everyone hugry/wants to see consistency before making decisions. what is wrong with that? let me ask you this. if mangini named chad starter this week and chad took a hit to the shoulder tonight again, the press would be screaming at him how he prematurely named pennington starter and made ramsey look like second fiddle unnecessarily. if the media is so convinced pennington is going to be the starter, why do they need mangini to verify it for them?
the NY football media is a joke in my opinion.
i don't mean you, i mean guys like cimini and cannizaro (sp?). even hutchinson, who I like a lot, is beginning to get on my nerves stating that mangini better not pack his bags because the media is going to run him out of town.
gimme a break!
questioning mangini's methods is pure speculation and conjecture right now. once the games begin and we see the results of his program is when the criticism or adulation should begin.

Mangini will never win a media war in NYC. Remember Pennington and his 'It's a privelege to cover the Jets' comment.
What's really embarassing is forcing players like Curtis Martin to say nothing about his knee injury, surrounded by Jets media spinners. Threatening players livelyhoods if they don't sound like Stepford Wives robots is insulting to players and fans alike.
