Martin Released!

by Bent on September 20th, 2006 at 7:44 am

Nope, not *that* Martin…

From the Daily News (see bottom of page):

Backup fullback Jamar Martin was released yesterday, a source said, and TE Zachary Hilton was re-signed

Hilton, released last weekend to make room on the roster for Wade Smith had been inactive in week one, but perhaps the Jets still have hopes that he will contribute to their passing game.

I felt Martin wasn’t finishing his plays consistently in the Patriots game, but decided not to mention it, in case he was making some hidden contribution that I was not alert enough to spot. Guess not.

I’m glad they released Jamar Martin, I mean this guy was out of football all of last year. Every time he was in the game he missed an assignment and got somebody killed.
What’s the deal with DE Michael Haynes? He was released by the Saints last week and I know the Jets had interest in him at some point. Our pass rush is really suspect and he may be able to contribute something on defense. Haynes, 6-3, 283 was a first round pick by the Bears out of Penn State back in 2003 and is also a product of Brooklyn.

Agreed, it seems like any time Jamar played he missed an assignment, or Chad was herding him around the field to where he should be standing… BRING ME STACEY TUTT!!!!
