Just like the title asks, if you are the Jets, knowing what the team’s strengths and deficiencies are, how do you stop the Peyton Manning and the Colts?
Just to cheat a little, here some ideas to get you going. Right now, the Colts are ranked 5th in total offensive YPG (#24 in rush, #2 in pass) while their defense is ranked 22nd in total defensive YPG (#28 versus the run, #10 versus the pass).

The plan is simple for the Jets this week. Take the tape from the Steelers playoff win against the Colts and duplicate the Pittsburgh’s game plan. I have never seen such domination over the Colts and Peyton Manning so frustrated. He had constant pressure all day and his passing lanes were nonexistant, by the time they tried to run it was too late. The Jets should have some success on offense because the Colts defense is simply not that good, especially there run defense. Now I know what all the haters will say, the Jets don’t have the same personnel as the Steelers, but have faith Jets fans, Mangini can solve this dilemma, I hope.

Also I know it’s off the topic, but is it me or is Peyton Manning in every freakin commercial on TV today. I can’t take seeing this guy anymore, he’s everywhere, doesn’t he have enough money.

Offense: Run the ball. Plain and simple that’s what we need to do. The Indy defense is also suceptible to the short screen game similar to what Tom Brady does to them in NE. Every once in a while attempt a long one to Coles (assuming he’ll play) or Cotchery to keep them honest. Keep the hurry up style. It’ll wear out the Indy defenders. Eat up as much of the clock as we can. Keep Manning on the sidelines by grinding out the game.
Defense: Ignore the audibles and focus on your assignments. Front 3 needs to get as much pressure as they can. LBs can help here. Safetys and Corners, jam the receivers at the line and hit them hard when they do catch it. Make sure they know you are there early and often. The extra LBS should block the passing lanes and watch for the screen and the rush. No safety or corner blitzes unless they show a huge weakness and you are sure Manning cannot see you or the open man.
Special teams: Keep them pinned back on Kickoffs and Punts. No misses on anything.
Oh and throw in a gadget play or two, but don’t telegraph it like when we played the Pats.
Plain and simple, the stars need to be perfectly aligned for us to win this game. While possible, I don’t think it’s likely this year unless Kendall and Teague are back in the trenches on Sunday to get our running game off the ground.

The statistical analysis of efficiency (offence and deffence, shows that Jets and colts are almost dead even. So far, the statistics indicate that the Jets will need 111.665 yards to score 7 points against the Colts defense and the Colts will need 111.025 to score 7 points against the Jets defense. So in order for the Jets to win the game, they will need to cut down on penalties and win the battle of turnovers, because it is unlikely that they will win the yards gained battle.

I’d like to see the front 3 play their gaps, while sending 1 or two line backers while letting the other two LBs drop into a soft zone. The CBs should be jamming the WRs with reckless abandon while the safties (that means you too Mr. Rhodes) provide support. If the Colts want to go to the air it should have to be a slot receiver.
On offense, for the first half they should just run the ball at that left side over and over and over. A run defense that bad can only take so much before they crack.
Or they can just kidnap peyton manning at one of his comercial shoots.
