Jets Rehire Alosi, Henderson to Assist
In addition to hiring Mike MacIntyre to replace Corwin Brown, it looks like the Jets rehired their old conditioning coach, Sal Alosi, and let Markus Paul go after just one of the healthiest years for most of the Jets players.
… considering the Jets were one of the healthiest teams last season. Alosi, formerly an assistant strength coach with the Jets, returns after a stint with the Falcons.
Funny, in the one year Alosi is gone, Chad goes all 16 games. Coincidence? Also, Jerome Henderson the Jets director of player development, will help Mike MacIntyre with the defensive backs.

When Moss went to the Redskins, he pretty much solved his hamstring problems, and claimed that Skins trainers had given him a new regimen. He further claimed that he didn’t have such conditioning preparation in NY. Makes you wonder why the Jets would hire this guy back.
I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that I think it is an eerie coincidence that Chad was healthy for the whole season despite no ALosi on the sidelines. I would reason that Chad had almost a full year to recover and worked like a fiend in different ways knowing his body better to come back the way he did. I also think the Moss injury early inhis career was due to the hype surrounding his high pick in the draft and what we gave up to get him that Santana overdid it in ST and ended up injured his first year and a half.
AGain an eerie coincidence, but a coincidence nonetheless.
Nah, it’s because he added weight, which is the same reason Abe stayed healthy for the mostpart in his last season here.
I really don’t think the Alosi rehire is a big deal. First off he was the just the assistant director of physical development in 2005 and the team’s assistant strength and conditioning coachh in 2003-04, working for Herm Edwards. Health in the NFL has probably got to do more with luck then who your strength coach is.
If he was the main guy in charge when we had all those injuries in 2005 I think it would be more of a big deal. Plus don’t forget we also got big Rick Lyle coming back to assist Alosi.
This MacIntyre guy sounds like a good hire, he’s a Parcells guy, whose familiar with the 3-4 and has a lot of experience coaching all over the place. I wonder what the deal is with Denny Marcin and Bryan Cox?
For the record, Chad did not credit Markus Paul for his training after surgery. He credited John Mellody, the Jets’ head athletic trainer. I take it that Mellody will still be around. As for Moss, he had an injury plagued 2006, with his old problem, hamstring pulls. Abe was injury plagued, too. So, maybe Moss and Abe are just injury prone.
