So will our little Diamond in the Rough Defensive End Adam Carriker go as high as #11 to the Niners? It could happen, according to the SacBee.
The 49ers also are showing interest in Nebraska defensive end Adam Carriker, who met with the coaching staff Saturday night.
“They liked me because of my size,” Carriker said.
So how unfair would it be if the Niners add both Carriker and AD in the offseason to their defense? Should that happen, the Niners could be a nasty team in the next few years. Carriker has also expressed interest in playing wherever suits the team he gets drafted by in the NFL
“Just looking at my size and weight, I’m the prototypical 3-4 defensive end,” he said. “But I can play in the 4-3, if you factor in my speed. I don’t have a preference. Whatever team drafts me, that’s the defense I’ll play in. Obviously, I’ve already played in a 4-3 in college.”
Do keep in mind that teams often try to create buzz around players they have no intention of picking and keep tip lips around players they are very excited about. But bottom line, it will be a miracle if Carriker is still around at 25. Good thing that this is a bumper crop of the DEs …
Thanks to Dan Fox for the tip…

Was reading up on some of the D-linemen in the draft this year and came across Ryan MBean from Ok. State. Although not top talent at the position is tall and big and supposedly possesses good quickness and drive. He could be a second-third round pick a DE. It could take him a little while to be an every down player but def. a guy to keep an eye on.

I was psyched that Tank Tyler did so well in the bench press at the Combine (a healthy 42 reps), but then saw that he only got a 13 on the Wonderlic and has some character issues. Doesn’t sound like a Tangini type of guy. Too bad because he certainly has size. I’m still hoping that Willis falls to the Jets, he ran @ a 4.4 40 and weighed in at over 240 lbs. I think he’d be a great fit in the middle and he has character up the wazoo..team leader, dealt with the tragic death of his brother, etc.

More Jets draft buzz from the Combine courtesy of draftdaddy.com:
I think the Jets know a quality defensive tackle prospect like Justin Harrell or Tank Tyler will be there in round two. I know the Jets really liked the cornerbacks they saw today. Their coaches paid very close attention to Josh Wilson of Maryland, Tanard Jackson of Syracuse and Travarous Bain of Hampton. But they really took notice of former U.N.L.V. star Eric Wright. He is a big legal risk, but he is the best pure Cover cornerback, other than Chris Houston. Wright’s skills are already N.F.L. good. Footwork is what separates the great cover cornerbacks.

As talented as they are there is no way the Jets draft Tyler or Wright with their personal histories.

I think that there is no way that Adam Carriker will fall To the Jets. He is way to good of a player. With his speed and size a team would be stupid to not take him

Well, you can’t say I didn’t warn you…
