NFLEL Week Three Review
The most eagerly anticipated weekend in the NFL offseason calendar! That’s right, it’s Week Three of the NFLEL season!
Once again, the Jets-allocated players seemed to have an impactful week, as defense still seems to be ruling the day in the early stages of the season. Let’s get to the action (recap)…
Amsterdam Admirals 14 Berlin Thunder 10: Former UCLA QB Drew Olson (Baltimore) passed for 235yds and 2TDs as the Admirals won yet another low scoring affair. Seattle’s Travis Lulay passed for 267yds, including a 63yd TD to free-agent Rich Musinski, who led all receivers with 5 catches for 137yds. Jets FS, Jamie Thompson started for Amsterdam and picked up seven tackles. Notes: Former Jet Marko Cavka made the start for Amsterdam and had another false start. Another former Jet, Harry “Willie Mays Hayes” Williams, came off the bench for the Admirals, didn’t record a catch, was called for holding and had a tackle on an interception.
Hamburg Sea-Devils 17 Frankfurt Galaxy 20: Charles Anthony rushed for 93yds and a TD and Aaron Hosack caught a 65yd TD pass to lead the Galaxy to the win. Justin Jenkins led the Sea-Devils with seven catches for 136yds and a TD. All three are free-agents. Jets guard Matt McChesney, no doubt buoyed by the news that the Jets didn’t draft a guard, got the start alongside former Jet Charles Missant as the offensive line for Frankfurt only gave up one sack. Meanwhile, NT Zarnell Fitch, no doubt buoyed by the fact that the Jets didn’t draft a defensive lineman, also got the start for the Galaxy and recorded 2 tackles, a pass defensed and an interception (!). Notes: Former Jet QB Kevin Eakin saw a few series as a backup, but only managed to throw four incompletions.
Cologne Centurions 14 Rhein Fire 6: New Orleans-allocated DB Chris Reis returned a fourth quarter interception for a TD to clinch the win for Cologne. Jets LB Blake Constanzo, no doubt devastated to learn that the Jets spent a first day pick on another linebacker (and didn’t trade Eric Barton, as well as picking up a couple more as UDFAs) took out his frustration on the Centurions with 5 tackles and 3 passes defensed. Notes: Former Jet Wale Dada added 4 tackles and a pass defensed for the Fire and fellow ex-Jet Brennan Schmidt saw action off the bench, but only recorded one tackle.
More to come next week. You know you love it.

Poor Blake … you never know though … “middle management” might be the ones to feel the squeeze depending on his progression …
