Andruzzi would welcome the chance to join the Jets per his agent.

Don't forget he has three brothers who are NYC firefighters, so maybe Fireman Ed can put a good word in.

He used to play for the Scottish Claymores too. Wheeee!

There's no way they will "waste" cap space. If there is nobody out there, they will restructure so that contracts become front-loaded (who wouldn't agree to that?), which will create more cap room in future years.

Better that than sign someone to a five year deal who we have to dump after one because they don't work out.

And really we only ultimately gave up a third rounder in value terms to get Jolley, but then you knew that already. Bradway is probably as responsible for this year's draft class as anyone, so we better hope he's not as inept as he is often made out to be.

i 'm glad we have tanagini running the program now, but bradway/herman
drafted fairly well with the exception of jolley. they just spent money on piss poor players.

The specs for Trusnick are intriguing. I like the idea of signing a division II or III guy with the speed and size who dominated. It is at least feasible to imagine he might do so at a higher level.

As for Wayne, as one of those who clamored for a FA OL signing (read overpayment), I think it interesting that the guy causing all these moves is Steinbach, one of the Guards I would have loved to sign.

It is still possible that we get someone like Shafer who is better than Moore, Clement or Kendall.

But if not, we wasted ten mil in cap space (and that number could easily grow by sacrificing Barrett or Barton). Anyone who did not call for improving the OL in FA, in spite of having to overpay for it, had better not complain when TJ is taken down from behind or runs into the fanny of the OL in front of him who was unable to move or redirect his opponent. It is hard to run without a hole and it is hard to throw long lying on one's back.

I'm sure Pennington wanted Moss since they played college ball together. It would have been fun to see them together again, but since Jolley was exchanged for one first round pick, the Raiders would have probably required the Jets to give up a 1st round pick for the next 3 years to get Moss.

I still can't believe that only 2 years ago, the Jets gave up their 1st round pick for the third TE on the Raiders' depth chart (behind Courtney Anderson and Teyo Johnson). Bradway should never be permitted to work in the NFL again (unless he finds work with the Patriots).

scouts inc (ESPN insider) rates andruzzi equally with kendall. take that for what its worth, though. they have brandon moore as a significantly better player, and have curtis martin well ahead of thomas jones. maybe they ought to update their info. still, if the scouting report is good, sounds like he is a good run blocker on short yardage. at the minimum, signing andruzzi might push brandon moore to pick up his game a bit. i am still hoping that moore turns out to be this year's cotchery.

The underlying point of interest in the Andruzzi article is the fallout from free agency signings.

Browns also signed Shaffer to a six year $36 million deal last year to play LT, and now with Joe Thomas on board he wants out. CLE stuck with a cap mess.

They should keep Andruzzi instead of him, since JA could play the roll to Thomas that Kendall did with Brick, but since they are stuck with Shaffer they will likely move him to G and dump JA.

Those clamoring for Jets to spend big bucks in FA should file this away, when these moves back fire they most times have long lasting consequences.

Steffes is a RB.

The Jets also signed another guy...

http://www.rookiepedia.com/index.php?title=Jason_Trusnik

And are bringing another in for a tryout...

http://www.rookiepedia.com/index.php?title=JP_Bekasiak

Both were long shots to be drafted, but have potential, I guess.
