Film Room: Mangini’s Fundamentals Mini-Camp

PressPassTV just loaded up another video about the Jets covering their Mangini’s Camp in Hartford at his old high school. The video shows instruction from rookie David Harris, Chad Pennington, and Mike Devlin, very interesting stuff.

  1. Thanks BB — good stuff.

Is it me, or does Mike Devlin remind you somewhat of Mick Foley? Like, if you took off half an ear and put a flaming barbed wire bat in his hand, you could picture him knocking The Undertaker off of the top of a steel cage. It’d be great if he showed up at practice, made the players take their cleats off and said, “Gentlemen, today we learn about. . . PAIN!” and then dumps out a bag of thumbtacks on the field . . .

Do we call him Cactus Mike now? Bang! Bang!

  2. I liked pennington’s comment on humility… “people with humility don’t think less of themselves… they think of themselves less”.

  3. I was at the camp and it was a great day. Despite the intense heat the Jet players and coach’s( and some Pat’s coach’s) extremely work hard and the 700 kids at the camp got coached up..A football love fest

  4. David Harris comes across as mature and focused; a good head on those gap filling shoulders. One sees why the Jets deemed him such a good fit for the team and organization they’re building.

  5. aside from the obvious–helping h.s. kids–i also like mangini having pennington and other players call plays for the 7 on 7 game and teach position specific skills. makes them think about things a little differently and learn while they are away from practice.
