Think you don’t have much in common with these players? What if I was to tell you that Jerricho Cotchery is a Fantasy Football Nerd just like you and me? Cotchery took some time with the NFLPA site to talk some fantasy football. The trouble is, Cotch is somewhat hush hush about the topic, here’s some questions from the interview.
Q: So if you were to get the top overall pick in a fantasy draft, who are you taking? Who’s the guy you’d build your team around?
A: I’ve got to keep that a secret. But I’ve got a nice plan because I was working on a plan, so I can’t give it away but I have a nice plan.
Q: How many of your Jets teammates do you think would be good fantasy pickups, and which guys?
A: We have some guys that, I think, can help a lot of people out this year. Me personally, I don’t get into picking my own teammates so I just try to keep it interesting.
Interesting how he just got into fantasy football last year … which just so happened to be his breakout season … how convenient for him …
I have to say, the thought of Cotchery having fellow Jets on his team is pretty amusing. It would be more fun if he started screaming at Chris Baker for a dropped pass in the endzone or Andre Dyson for a missed interception because it was costing his fantasy football team points. Then again, maybe he’s thought about this more than I have …

I actually drafted Cotchery very late last year, which ended up being the best pick of my draft.

the worst is when one of your starters plays the JETS, that player does nothing, and JETS still lose. And then there is the scenario that you bench the guy and he has monster game.

I almost make it a point to avoid jets on draft day, just because by then I’ve bought into so much of they hype, I’ve usually overvalued the entire team – especially TE…always at TE.
The only exception to this rule is of course CMart, who has somehow ended up on my roster at one point or another every season for the last 4 years. thankfully, that tradition ends this year.

Two years ago, I had LT on my team and I was at the Meadowlands when he scored 4 td’s against the Jets. Anyone remember that game? I think it was Chrebet’s last appearance, and it went down to the finish where the Jets couldn’t punch the ball in with 1st and goal from the 8. I have to admit, I was quietly cheering each time LT scored. I know….I suck, but it feels good to finally get that off of my chest.

if i had the 1st overall pick i would have to go with my boy Ladanian Tomlinson…he is consistent with yards and scores multiple touchdowns a game..and is in my opinion the best HB in the league.
as far as possible Jet fantasy players…i Think its Coles, Cotchery, Thomas Jones…occasinally…and i do mean “occasionally” Pennington when your starting QB is on a bye week. and Jets defense will give you a few good games……Nugent is not fantasy reliable and either is any of our Tight Ends…iv been playing fantasy football for like 10 years now and only like twice have i had jets on my team..its cool to love the Jets but dont let it blind you from picking up better players in fantasy football
