Guys, any ideas why when discussing Mangini, his training under Marchibroda and Parcells is completely ignored?

I don’t know much about Ted M, but I find it hard to believe that Big Bill would tolerate anyone on his staff that he did not value. IOW, though lil Bill might have brought him here, Big Bill must have vetted him and I find it hard to believe one could be around such a presence and learn nuthing.

Yet is almost as though those years did not happen.

It’s an excellent point, and one in which Mangini is clear to acknowledge the lessons he’s learned from all over.

When I had the chance to interview him last year, he absolutely gave credit to both Marchibroda and Parcells as important parts of his coaching education. He was in Baltimore for a year with Marchibroda without either Bill around, and was with the Jets under both Bills (the first time). He said that he learned different things from each of them, and really was gracious in evenly distributing his appreciation to all of them.

IMO I think the Belichick angle is played up by the mainstream media because that’s the hottest “a story” — being in the New England program for all 3 championships, going against his most recent mentor twice a year, the “border war,” etc. If he played the Cowboys twice a year when Parcells was coach there, I’m sure that angle would’ve been more touted.
