Friday Links: Hot and Fresh
The 2007 pre-season is now in the books. You read
- Cimini writes that Mosley and Tuiasosopo may have secured themselves roster spots with solid performances in the Backup Bowl. Cimini also notes that McCareins guaranteed himself a place on the team by renegotiating his contract. Hope he got that promise of a raise in writing!
- Mosely’s jarring sack of A.J. Feeley apparently broke the QB’s hand. With this development, Feeley needs some new Mitts. (Couldn’t help myself, fellas. Sorry!)
- Rock says Stuckey is a keeper. Duh!
- Jacob Bender dominant? So says Hutch at the Star-Leger. He played better, but “dominant” might be a stretch. The Jets PR department must have traded a favor to Hutch for this story.
- Hats off to Andrew Gross for being honest and admitting that he reviewed the game on TV like the rest of us. Gross also confirms the “Dangling Dyson” rumors.

Thought Bender WAS dominant in the running, albeit vs. third string Eagles. Unlike Hutch I thought he was hit and miss in pass protection, completely whiffing a few times.
Will need a lot of help in that area vs. Pats, those projections of break out year for Chris Baker should be postponed.

I would be curious as to why folks thought MacCariens, who I have repeatedly belittled as MacYawn and MacAverage, renegotiated his deal?
He has never looked better. He even fought for some balls this preseason. I am confident given the current escalation of salaries, he easily would have been able to sign with another team for at least the amount of this year’s salary without taking such a hit on next year’s salary. I don’t get why he just did not stay put.
Any ideas?
Finally, I think dangling Dyson is brilliant. I doubt we get a comparable player offered to us who can solve our OL woes. But if we do, DB and WR are the two places we have strength. Obviously, Tangini have seen enough out of Miller, Barrett, Revis, et. al. to take the risk.
I bet Dyson starts the season for us but I like this move.

H, I was real surprised Justin agree to a pay cut, only explanation I can think of is there is a so far undisclosed signing bonus. Did they shorten his deal, perhaps? VERY low base for next year too, surprised.
Yet another reason you had to let Kendall walk, with all the players on this team that have signed below market to stay here, how can you let Kendall get away with that crap? Wish they had dealt with it before it became public, but once he opened his trap he had to go.

Stuckey is a straight shooter with upper management written all over him.
Sincerely,
The Bobs
