I would imagine he can probably earn the same amounts if he meets certain targets or something. Or maybe he just wanted to do everything he could to help the team by freeing up some more money. Did they shorten his deal, perhaps? VERY low base for next year too, surprised. Yet another reason you had to let Kendall walk, with all the players on this team that have signed below market to stay here, how can you let Kendall get away with that crap? Wish they had dealt with it before it became public, but once he opened his trap he had to go. He has never looked better. He even fought for some balls this preseason. I am confident given the current escalation of salaries, he easily would have been able to sign with another team for at least the amount of this year's salary without taking such a hit on next year's salary. I don't get why he just did not stay put. Any ideas? Finally, I think dangling Dyson is brilliant. I doubt we get a comparable player offered to us who can solve our OL woes. But if we do, DB and WR are the two places we have strength. Obviously, Tangini have seen enough out of Miller, Barrett, Revis, et. al. to take the risk. I bet Dyson starts the season for us but I like this move. Unlike Hutch I thought he was hit and miss in pass protection, completely whiffing a few times.
