Week Three of the NFL Season, and the Jets play their second home game today against another divisional opponent, the Miami Dolphins with both team looking to get their first win.

Storylines to consider today …

Jets’ Offense:

How’s Pennington? - Not sure it’s been confirmed by the coach or Pennington, but if he plays how does he look? How’s that leg and his mobility?

Time to Man Up – With nine sacks already on the season, this group needs to tighten up and do better with their assignments. There were many times last game that two linemen were unemcumbered, while others were overwhelmed.

Ground Game – The backs have had tough opponents to get the ball moving, but this is the week that they need to establish the running game. If they can’t do it here, it’s going to be a long long year.

Jets Defense:

Turnovers – With Rhodes stepping up with his teammates and offering bounties in practice on creating turnovers, let’s hope the Jets can respond and create some this game. Trent Green is coming off a poor performance last week, so it will be interesting to see if it’s a conservative gameplan.

Under Pressure – Without an established passing threat, the Jets might put more in the box and on blitzes than we’ve seen thus far.

Coleman, Robertson, and Ellis need to pick it up today..lets get a pass rush for a change.

I have this feeling Penny wont play..so look for the Kellen Clemens to have 2 good quarters and 2 bad quarters today.

Dear David Barrett: Bump the receiver!! no more 10 yard cushions

    Go Jets!

hoping for a quick offensive start – do not want Chad subjected to moronic booing. Hopefully soem fans are still in a food coma from breaking fast.

Off to a Kids b-day party (don’t worry, they have directtv in an isolated room)

    LETS GET’ EM

Confession: my best friend is a Dolphins fan. So when he messaged me this morning with “J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK” I responded by singing the Miami fight song:

    Miami has the Dolphins,
    The worst football team
They take the ball from goal to their own 40
    Then slowly punt away!
    They’re (intercepted) in the air,
    They’re (fumbling) on the ground,
    They’re always out of control.
    So when you say Miami-
    You’re talking three and out!

well my intuition was wrong… Chaddy P is starting…thank god!

Seriously, who wants Chad gone, he is STILL the man.

    QB Controversy: CLOSED!

  7. avatar Salesmunn says:

Don’t know about you but….Coles should take a seat. His bell is definitely rung. The way he just stayed down on the field with his hand in his face around 3:30 in the 3rd, not good.

The Jets Stink! Mangini is a wimp, and not bright enough to turn it around. You BARELY beat a terrible team, the Dolphins. Enjoy your ‘rebuilding’ year. Because you won’t sniff a meaningful game.

  9. avatar Aaron (AKA Wormfather) says:

    @hmj

Seriously, dont you have anything better to do?

I feel worse after this win than I did after last week’s loss.

Thought the run defense was coming togethar, shredded vs. a bad running team.

Thankfully they have a soft stretch in the schedule which will hopefully give them some time to figure out what is wrong. Looked worse than last year at times.

Almost wishing Schotty had taken the MIA job, he has no feel for the game flow or maybe just game planning in general. What ever happened to play action?

  11. avatar Aaron (AKA Wormfather) says:

    @Wayne

I know how you feel about the play action. We had driven deep into their territory on like 6 runs, it was 2nd and 4 I belive and I said to myself they’re stacked in the box, here comes the playaction. Nope, run for no gain, I belive we ended up kicking a field goal.

    Sad.

  12. avatar TOON2388 says:

disappointed that we cannot muster a pass rush when we know other team is going to throw. Special Teams KO return was the difference. Plus, it was nice to see us score a TD in last 2 minutes of 1st half instead of giving one up for a change.

Based on what AZ & Warner dd in 4th quarter today, I now realize that Clemens tentative 1st half probably cost us last week’s game. KC = future. #10 = 2007

  13. avatar Dennis says:

I’ll take the win. I don’t have any real complaints about the offense, although I agree some play action would have been nice, especially since Chad does it as well as anyone. The defense still sucks, though. We gave up 28 points to a bad offense, and those two TD drives in the 4th were terrible.

  14. avatar wayne says:

D- I really have no complaints about the offense per se, they moved the ball fine, but it is mostly because MIA sucks.

My complaint is with the play calling.

Would like to see some killer instinct from Shotty. Once they get the ground game establish, use Chad’s best weapon, the play action pass.

Doesnt have to be a bomb, but on second and 4 yards a play action seem route to underutilized Baker would be golden, as opposed to a run up the middle.

  15. avatar hmj says:

As I said, condsider this a rebuilding year. The jury is still out on Mangini…he was a mediocre Defensive Coordinator, and had the Bellichick mystique to help him get a job.

  16. avatar Dennis says:

Wayne, I don’t disagree. I’m thinking Schott might have just been so stunned we had a good ground game going that it messed with his mind :)
