Daily Links: 3-4, 4-3 … They Still Can’t Stop the Run

  • Lange thinks the Defense is a process … hmm … 3-4, 4-3 … seems like it’s been a process ever since Jason Ferguson left town.
  • Cimini grades the team’s performance on Sunday.
  • Alley-oop! Time for the Jets to jump in the Power Rankings thanks to Fox. According to Football Outsiders Week 3 DVOA, they are still near the bottom of the pile, especially their jaw dropping terrible Defensive Rating.
  • So what’s the Over/Under on Herm’s firing in KC? Sunday, his players yelled at … wait for it …. Dick Curl, Herm and Solari. This week Herm’s game plan is to get it to Gonzalez, Bowe and LJ … nice game plan!!!

  1. The more I watch Pennington, the more I realize three things:

    1. If he doesn’t get hurt in 2003, he probably would’ve led the Jets to the playoffs.
    2. If he doesn’t get hurt in 2005, he probably would’ve led the Jets to the playoffs.
    3. If Herm Edwards wasn’t his head coach, Chad would’ve won a SUPER BOWL!

  2. What’s the over under on Mangini getting fired. Herm Edwards and Eric Mangini are both defensive coaches. KC has built a very good defense under Edwards ranking 4th overall in the NFL so far this year. The Jets defense, under Mangini, continues to regress just as the Patriots defense regressed under Mangini in his one year as DC of the Pats.

Myopic Jet fans, dumped by Herm in 2005 are more content throwing Bob Sutton under the bus, just as they were ready to throw Chad Pennington under the bus two weeks ago.

    Mangini and Tannenbaum must go.

  3. Don’t worry, Mangini & Tannenbaum will be replaced, as will all the coaches in the league. But for now these are our guys, you need to give a 4-5 year look to see how they work out.
