Sorry for the long break … my Internet was down and my computer crashed right at the half … coincidence? I think not.

3:57 - Pennington misreads the blitz, and throws a bad interception to Aaron Ross, who makes the interception and runs it back for a touchdown. Game over, season over, life over. No reason to write any more, this team just pissed away this game. Giants 35 – Jets 24

3:54 - Jets make a bad mental error and cost themselves five yards by not covering up the tackle. Then on a poor screen the Jets lose a yard. Brad Smith makes a HUGE catch and the Jets get the first down … great protection by the Jets.

3:49 - Jacobs has been eating some clock for the Giants, but they are now in a crucial 3rd and 7. The Jets bring pressure and break up the pass. Big play for the Jets and now it’s time for special teams and the offense to win it.

3:41 - Pennington throws a nice pass in the middle of the field, then run a draw. The Giants *almost* get their first sack of the game, but pull a Kiwanuka, and Pennington scrambles to get the ball out of play. Jets can’t get another first down and have to punt … 6:43 left.

3:39 - Leon almost breaks another return for touchdown, but gets caught by the last tackle between him and the endzone. Jets getting ready to start their drive at their own 40.

3:38 - Remember that play when Travis Daniels got abused by Thomas Jones? Well Dyson tried to reenact that with Plaxico Burress, getting abused down the sideline for a ridiculously long gain and TD to boot. Jets now trail for the first time of the gam with eight minutes left. Giants 28 – Jets 24

3:35 - David Barrett makes a horse-collar tackle and the Giants are near midfield.

3:29 - Dyson saves what could have been a touchdown by Plaxico Burress by impeding progress before the pass. Heads up play by Burress.

3:24 - Driving into Giants’ territory, Coles drops a sure touchdown, and then Pennington connects with Coles on the next play for a first down. But it’s the next pass, in a time where the Jets can go back up by a full score that things unravel. Pennington throws a “jump shot” pass toward the endzone that floats, and Aaron Ross picks it up. That pass was terrible … something Rex Grossman would do with a worse arm. Giants’ drive will start on the 1 yard line. Time to sack up, defense.

3:19 - Jets have a nice return getting past the 30, and starting the drive right by getting a first down on a pass to Coles. Watching Pennington and Coles work is amazing … their ability to move chains is fun, every time.

3:12 - Rhodes makes a nice stop behind the line of scrimmage by hitting Jacobs very low. Jeremy Shockey caps the drive with a touchdown catch where he walks into the endzone almost untouched. Giants 21 – Jets 24

3:08 - Vilma tries to time the snap, and he gets caught in the neutral zone giving the Giants the first down around the midfield. Plaxico Burress takes the team on his shoulders and makes some big catches across the middle over Revis, and then on the sidelines.

3:05 - The game is starting to bog down some for both teams, no one is moving the ball deep.

2:52 - I was thinking about writing here that if the Giants keep playing physical, they will have to match them score for score … so on the ensuing kick, Leon comes out and makes a great play on the kick, returning it for the score. Dearth makes a great block to seal the Giant’s coverage. Leon was *almost* beat by the kicker at the Giants’ 40, but he squirts free and made the touchdown. Jets 24 – Giants 14

2:48 – I knew it! After running the ball more on the Jets, Plax makes his first (and a big catch) and the Giants move into Jets’ territory. The Giants come out playing physically, and Jacobs caps the drive with a physical run for a TD. Giants 14 – Jets 17

MIDWAY STATS
Rushing: Jets (48) – Giants (75)
Passing: Jets (142) – Giants (22)
Turnovers: Jets (1) – Giants (2)
Points Off Turnovers: Jets (10) – Giants (0)

2:37 - I was secretly harboring thoughts that the Jets could win the game this week. The Jets are keeping the Giants in their base defense with all the trickery that we’re used to seeing from Schottenheimer, and the defense we’re seeing from the Jets is getting outtoughed on some plays, but has been doing a good job of especially with putting six or seven on the line at the snap. Let’s hope things are coming together for this team.

2:32 - After bleeding the clock, Nugent hits a kick to put up the Jets at the half. END OF HALF JETS, 17 – GIANTS 7

2:27 - After the TD, the Giants get greedy and try to use the time. On the first play from scrimmage, Vilma intercepts a horrible pass … Manning totally locked in and Vilma read it.

2:24 - Brad Smith gets his first touchdown as a Jet receiver, reeling in a nice catch where his defender was out of position. Smith went up and got the ball in the corner of the endzone. Looks like we have a new legitimate third receiver. Jets 14 – Giants 7

2:23 - With 45 seconds left, the Jets stop the clock at the Giants 16 yard line. Chad is running the two minute well … using all the time, but doing it effectively.

2:21 - 1:18 and across the middle. Pennington completes a needle-threading pass to Brad Smith, Jets to the 32.

2:19 - Chad floats another pass for a completion, but Cotchery gets absolutely drilled for his efforts. Washington drops a checkdown, but Coles (back in & playing) makes an amazing jumping catch to keep the drive alive. Jets take a timeout.

2:16 - Leon makes a nice delayed run for a gain of more than five, but Kiwanuka gets flagged for a facemask and puts the Jets almost at their own 30. Two minute warning sounds, and the Jets will have a two-minute drill to move the ball at least forty yards for a score … we’ll see.

2:12 - Giants now driving, and inside the Jets’ thirty after gritting out a first down. David Barrett deflects a pass and Victor Hobson sets the edge on the next run to put the Jets in third and long. Hobson makes a great blitz on the next play and almost sacks Manning, but not before he intentionally grounds it. A 46 yard field goal becomes a punt which is downed at the seven.

2:07 - Pennington throws a bad pick, letting the ball hang too long on a direct pass to Cotchery on the left side. Sam Madison bided his time, and jumped the pass.

2:05 - Jets sneak another first down, after Thomas Jones has a great run almost making a first down and after Leon Washington does a good job of getting anything positive on a play Giants were all over the backfield.

2:03 - The call is upheld, the Giants are charged a timeout.

2:01 - Looks like Mangold was hit on the inside of the thigh. Wade Smith has now taken two snaps, the first into his he puts it into Pennington’s chest on a second cadence call. Mangold gets back on the game on 3rd and 13, and Coles makes one of the most amazing catches I have ever seen, getting forced out in double coverage. Huge gain for the Jets getting Mangold back and making the first down. Coughlin challenges stupidly, but the force out is a judgement call … something we Jets fans know well from last year’s Cleveland game.

1:53 - Jets are getting ready to start their drive, and struggle, getting into a long third down. Giants bring the pressure and Pennington gets off the pass in time to Cotchery for a first down. Mangold is injured though on the play … more as we know it.

1:47 - Giants driving well, they are getting very physical now, and are now outplaying the Jets defense on this drive. After many big plays on the drive, Derrick Ward just out hustles the Jets players to push for a touchdown. Giants 7 – Jets 7.

1:41 - Back out of their base 3-4, David Harris makes a great read to tackle Derrick Ward for loss. Quarter ends before the Giants can get off third down play. END OF FIRST QUARTER, JETS 7 – GIANTS 0

1:37 - Nugent continues his struggles, missing another kick, lining up the the Giants at their own 33.

1:35 - Jets doing a good job of negating the blitz … Jones works a screen, using motion plays, Washington on a run outside and Leon Washington with a nice chip on Osi Umenyora. Baker makes a big catch in the middle of the field to keep this drive alive. The drive ends on a bad screen the Giants read well. Coles is down on the play … hope he’s OK … looks like a knee issue.

1:27 - Jets do a nice job, making the Giants go another three and out including some good work against the run, and a Tackle for Loss by who? Bryan Thomas. The Jets are showing the seven men on the line, just like the Giants did much of last week. I like this front better than everything we’ve seen from the Jets so far this season.

1:23 - Brad Kassell *blows up* Reuben Droughns on the kickoff return, Giants starting this drive at their 23.

1:21 - Kerry EFFIN Rhodes on a play where Brandon Jacobs was sure to get a first down, literally ripped the ball out of Jacobs hands grabbed the ball before it slips out of bounds and takes it in for the score. Jets 7 – Giants 0.

1:19 - Revis plays some great coverage on a long bomb to Plax, and has help over the top from Eric Smith.

1:17 - Graham has a very nice punt, but Wallace Wright does an ever better job downing the ball within the five … is this the same Jets team we’ve seen over the past few weeks? Don’t get your hopes up, Bass ol’ boy!!

1:15 - Thomas Jones makes a big gain in the flat on a pass … the Giants are on their heels with the success of the short passing game. After trying to use Smith on a sneak … the Jets do go for it on a very short fouth and one. Typically, the Jets try and get the Giants to go offsides, but it doesn’t work (it never seems to anymore) and the Jets punt. This is another play people will crucify Mangini for if they lose.

1:12 - Thomas Jones puts the Jets in 3rd and 4, which is huge rather than 3rd and long. Gadget play by the Jets while Chad is “calling the audible” and Washington runs for the first down and then some sweeping left.

1:09 - After the punt, Jets bring five and Shaun Ellis gets some good pressure on first down to prevent a pass and almost get the sack. On second down, Ward runs for a few, but the Jets’ defense is there to stop him. Eric Smith makes a great play on third down to prevent a completion to Shockey forcing the Giants to punt. With the pressure the Jets are bringing, they look more like the Giants from last week than the team we’ve seen so far.

1:05 - Leon has a good return to start the game but the Jets go three and out, throwing three consecutive plays … one bat down, one incompletion and a short gain for Coles. The Giants’ run defense is stout, so expect to see the Jets try and win it through the air … feels like 2006 all over again.

1:00 - Half an hour late and a wasted trip to The Home Despot, (screw you Arthur Blank!!) I’m home and catching up quickly. Seems like no one thinks the Jets will win … we’ll see.

  1. What’s with the lining up on 4th down and then doing nothing crap? Last year Mangini would’ve gone for it. If you don’t think you can pick up half a yard you shouldn’t be playing.

  2. This team is falling apart before our eyes… Coles then Mangold. This is eerily like the 2005 season :(

  3. I’ll take this first half. Great to see Mangold come back out. They do work the 2 minute offense really well. Then a nice gift from Eli gave us another 3. I would’ve like to see them take a shot at the endzone, though. Mangini is much more conservative this season, which is very disappointing. I guess he doesn’t feel like he has nothing to lose any more.

  4. The Swiss Cheese run defense is a little hard to take.

  5. “The Swiss Cheese run defense is a little hard to take.”

I was thinking the same thing but was thinking hot knife through butter.

  6. WOW. Really you can’t just puch Burrass out of bounds??!?!?!

    ARGGGGGGGGGGG

  7. i will say it with 6:34 left….chad and dyson, 2 of THE WORST individual poor plays u can see in one game.

oh and nice run defense…..such losers.

    thanks chad!!!!

  8. is it time to play for #1 draft pick yet?

  9. and after the pick TD….thanks again chad.
this loss more putrid then the bills loss. THIS LOSS EATS AT THE FANS!!!!!!!!!! GOODBYE CHAD!!!!!!!!!GOODBYE CHAD!!!!!!!!!!!
never saw a team get a kick return td, and a fumble return td, and be in a tight game in the 4th quarter….and lose by 10.
GOODBYE CHAD!!!!!!!! GOODBYE CHAD!!!!!!!!!!! GOODBYE CHAD!!!!

and based on some other comments, yeah the not going for it on 4th and 1 shows the coaches think very little of this offense. the running play b4 the half time FG….pathetic. and how many 3 and outs on offense that took under a minute?? when we got it back after stopping them when we were up 24-14….we ran wide (nice call all day schott) out of bounds, then a quick pass wide for 1 yd and out of bounds, then a trick play with brad smith at qb but an inside handoff for 5 yards.

sorry to all of us…..we deserve better than this.

    GOODBYE CHAD!!!!!! THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!!!!!

  10. really, if i was playing the jets, why wouldnt you just run every down? they cannot stop the run at ALL

  11. Since Chad lost his brain (bad decision making) he has nothing left. I was one of his biggest supporters but the guy cannot carry the team anymore. Trade him to KC.
But, Vilma, Barton, Hobson, Thomas are playing like the worst LBs in the league. I have no idea what happened last year, but the coaching seems bad, not even average. Maybe Mangini is good in teaching fundamentals, which also means that a High School may be his best fit.
And Woody Johnson, please sell the team! Only the ownership and the FO are worst than the team’s play.

  12. The Kellen Clemens era may have just begun

  13. we should all be pretty glad we didnt meet at a bar for this putrid display. any of chads numbers are mostly due to guys like coles making BEYOND tough catches. chad is done….and u can also see he is limping on the ankle which is turning a weak arm into a weaker arm. i love the guy but jesus its enough. typing words on this post cant fully describe how I…and all of us have to feel. this loss is worse then the bills loss.
HOW THE r%@% CAN U LOSE A GAME WITH A KICK RET, AND A FUMBLE RET TD, WHEN U HOLD THE OPPOSING QB TO A ZERO $%%! RATING. LOOK IT OVER FELLAS….THE OFFENSE SCORED 1 TD TODAY!!!!! ONE!!!!!!!! AND THATS DUE TO A BRAD SMITH GREAT CATCH. CHAD WITH 3 INTERCEPTIONS….AND THE LAST 2….AND THOSE OF U WITH ANY VISION…..1ST ONE THE CORNER CHEATED OFF HIS MAN AND JUMPED THE ROUTE….AND THE 2ND WAS JUST CHAD BEING A WEAK ARMED QB AND A CORNER BEING ABLE TO MAKE UP THE GROUND….

goodbye chad….u were good….but not good enough

  14. and i meant the jets held manning to a ZERO rating in the first half, sorry. and listening to adam schein is actually enjoyable for the first time b/c this team and CHAD SPECIFICALLY deserve to be ripped apart

  15. and sorry again….but the 2 picks that i referred to above were the 2 non endzone ones of course. got em mixed up in terms of when they happened.

  16. Anyone still think this is a better team than last year with a worse record? Didn’t think so.

  17. no way paul…this team is much worse. nice pickup of thomas jones….and not using him. dyson can be cut tmrw. guy seems to be around big plays too much. and thank G-D….mangini just said chad is his QB. whew!! i thought we were in trouble for next week!!!!! bring on the eagles!!!!

  18. That was just awful. I can’t wait to hear all the Chad apologists yet again brag about his completion percentage while defending him and saying that those of us who are ready for a change are clueless. Too bad you don’t win or lose football games based on stat sheets alone. The Jets have had some nice wins during his time, but his time has come. I agree with Nikolas, a brainless Chad is a worthless Chad.

  19. This is the 1st and probably only game i’ll get to see all year at Mississippi State.

Sigh. As an avid smack talker, how can you even associate yourself with this year’s team now? 1-4? Man, what a fall from grace.

This hurts. Every week it hurts more. First NE, then Buffalo, now the team that owns our teams heart and soul in NJ…

I’ll keep following the team, and I can’t say I wont watch them again. Though its a different feeling now. Its that I’ll have to wait till 2008 to be excited again…will we ever win a Super Bowl?

  20. the jets once again lose the game on both sides of the line of scrimmage. though they were stout in spots against the run, they could not stop the big running play even when they knew it was coming. the o-line protected failry well against a great pass rushing team but they continue to get zero push on running plays. none. why trade a pick and pay t. jones all that money if you don’t get someone to create holes? i’m not as down on ferguson as a lot of people who post here (he’ll become a solid pass protecting tackle) but he won’t ever be a road grader. an effort should have been made to upgrade the run blocking on the other side, at least, because clement and moore aren’t the answer.

chad, with his smarts and savvy, could conceivably get this team into the playoffs if he had more help on both lines, but he will likely always come up a little short in the end. when was the last time anyone saw a jet receiver catch a ball in stride? curls and comebacks won’t win superbowls.

  21. chad = not so good today

  22. I think it’s time to see what Clemens can do. The season is over so let’s see what the kid has.

  23. I don’t see Mangini making the change yet, he’ll wait but its coming that’s for sure. I’d do it now but he won’t go there yet. What a mess. I really like Chad but this is it, you can’t make the throws he is making and I just can’t watch an offense with Coles, Cotchery, Baker, Smith, Jones and Washington look like a bad college offense.
The season is lost, they aren’t making the playoffs, this is the perfect opportunity to see what Clemens can do, and get him some experience before next year.

  24. Here we go again everyone wants to see Clemens play. But tell me blame Chad for what? Allowing 170+yds rushing and missing a tackle that led to a 53yd score. We were doing well until we couldn’t stop them. The first 2 interceptions were horrendous. But the last one was what killed us. If we want to go on and blame Chad for the loss, then go ahead do it. Since we all know how great our defense played for one half. The running game is NONEXISTANT! Yet Clemens can solve this problem? I give props to the O-line for the pass protection, but the run blocking is trully devastating. I mean we have are averaging like 60yds rushing the past 2 weeks, yet we expect to win? Unfortunately Kendall couldnt shut his mouth up which is why our line is suffering. Hopefully come draft day we can draft a big DT or OLB or maybe a LG to help out. This is really embarrassing, hopefully we can play spoiler for some teams. Like I said earlier, remember Bent. WE NEED TO DOMINATE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE LINES!! We are getting pushed and shoved like little girls out there

  25. i didn’t watch the game, but i just saw the clip of burress stiff-arming dyson and strolling by him. it made we want to throw up. dyson looked like he didn’t care about the play or the game. that effort was disgusting.

  26. I’ve have been a staunch Chad defender for years now, but today’s game really gave me pause . .. it was clear that his lack of arm strength hurt this team. All three picks were because he couldn’t get the ball to the right spot fast enough — the corners were jumping routes all day long, and that abomination in the endzone . . . ugh. Coles was making great catches and getting killed out there (again) because those passes were such slow lollipops.

Jeff above asks if Clemens can improve the running game — with the way the corners were jumping routes and how close the safeties were crowding the box, they clearly had no fear of getting beat deep, and were available for run support. The linebackers also could hang around the line and snuff out the screen and stop runs because they knew Chad wasn’t going deep. A quarterback with a stronger arm will force the corners and safeties back into coverage, and give the running backs more space to run in around the line of scrimmage. Ideally, anyway.

I couldn’t blame the O-line today — against a vicious pash rush, they held the fort really well all day. To give up one late sack was really a good effort. It also seemed Chad had a bit of time to throw, he just made bad decisions. It’s impossible to get the run game going when they are constantly facing a stacked line because they know the Jets are never going deep.

I know people were down on the defense, but the offense turning it over and not being able to move the ball, gave the Giants lots of chances.

The team is 1-4 and struggling offensively — only 14 last week vs. a terrible banged-up defense, and 14 of today’s 24 came on special teams and defense. It may not be fair, but like when Chad came in for Vinny and gave the team a boost, it may be time to do likewise with Clemens.

  27. When a defense is overmatched, the coordinator is forced to make calls that warp it even more. When the Jets were stuffing the run early, they were able to play sound defense, which is why many of Manning’s throws were going into double coverage. Once the Giants realized that the way to kill the run defense was to attack off-tackle, it got the defense so off balance that they had to resort to run blitzing, and that left the receivers in single coverage. Manning didn’t have to worry about linebackers in the zone, he could find the mismatches, and that’s exactly what he did. Yes, Dyson missed the tackle, but the reason it was a killer is because there was no safety help, and there was no safety help because the team was forced to blitz whenever they wanted to stop the run or pressure the passer. (Much like the backup quarterback, everybody loves the blitz without ever bothering to consider the downside.)

Pennington’s interceptions finished the game, but as with every other game this season, it was the defense that was the biggest factor in the loss. To Chad’s credit, he took shots downfield into the single coverage, and he was pretty successful. But when he missed, he missed badly, as with the first off Ross’ interceptions. It should also be noted that the receivers didn’t have much separation downfield, which is part of the reason why the deep passing game wasn’t more successful. Every one of Chad’s deep throws was into tight coverage, and he showed good ball placement just to make catches possible.

D’brickashaw played another terrific game, and he has quite suddenly blossomed into a premiere LT. He took care of Osi one-on-one, which allowed the team to give Clement some help, and that set up the Jets deep game, such as it was. But the line still wasn’t able to get much push. I understand that there were 8-9 guys in the box, but they were never able to move the Giants DL off the line of scrimmage.

  28. As for the idea of putting in Clemens, I’m all for doing what Arizona is doing and having some packages for Clemens to run during the course of a game. But I still don’t see him giving the team a better chance of winning.

  29. The Coordinators both suck, always make their calls 1 play too late. And what is w/Schottenheimer running outside (and then giving up, again) all game, terrible, bland, no imagination. How can an offense have 50% 3rd down conversion and cannot score?
And the D maybe they need to learn how to tackle.

  30. seanmac –

I also noticed that D’Brick has been doing very well this year. He’s neutralized Taylor, Schoebel and Osi three weeks in a row. Showing great improvement.

I remember before last year’s draft, you said, “If they draft Ferguson, I’ll throw a brick through my TV.” Do you feel any better about the move now? Or does it depend if Clemens develops like Leinart? Just curious.

  31. I do feel better about it. He’s not anywhere near the run blocker Marcus McNeil is, and I think that he is one of the reasons why the team can’t run the ball on anyone. That said, he’s doing his job in pass protection. You also see how using two first round picks on the OL is kind of a pyrrhic victory, as they can be neutralized by weaknesses at the other line spots. Both Ferguson and Mangold are playing well, and yet the Jets have one of the more ineffective offensive lines in the league.

  32. Speaking of the line, I’m curious about Bender’s development. I know he’s a project, but since he’s known for run blocking and the team is struggling to do that, I wonder if he may see the field sooner rather than later? Then again, he hasn’t been active yet, so . ..

By the way, if I hadn’t made chocolate milk for my kids tonight, I’d never have seen McCareins today. Smith is clearly the #3 now.

  33. Man, this team is terrible. LBs, DL, CBs, OL, QB, RB. And coaching. Only the WRs are a bright spot and I fear for their lives right now. Only 11 months till the next meaningful game.

  34. Me too andrew. I think I’m done this year unless Clemens shows some magical touch. Chad is the only reason of our being 1-3 if not 1-4. Being in DC, all I want now is them beating the skins. As a matter of facts I dont mind players getting traded before the trade deadline. Might as well deal some and position ourselves for next yr. While we are at it, we should now give the next 11 games to Clemens and see what we got.

  35. It’s over for another year… again. I love what Chad has done for us in the past, but it’s clear his play is costing this team. It may have everything to do with his ankle, but it is costing us. Start the Clemens era and give the kid a trial by fire.

Our run defense is pathetic. Our offensive line is erratic. Sometimes they hold off the rush and sometimes they let it right though.

I just don’t get how this team could be this bad in only 1 season. The only answers I have are age and coaching. Where is the innovative offense that we saw last year? Did Schott throw out his playbook or something? Why sign Jones if your’re not going to use him? If he hasn’t recovered from his preseason injury, then let Washington do the running. And what is Sutton doing?? Rhodes was a Pro Bowl snub last year, but this year he’s almost invisible. I can’t remember seeing a good blitz package.

Maybe I’m overreacting, but I don’t see the Jets turning this around this year. I suppose we need a little bit of encouragement. How’s this: It could be worse, we could be Dolphins fans.

  36. here’s the bottom line on our QB situation. chad is not the kind of QB who can put the team on his shoulders and carry it. the jets are not good enough to simply have a caretaker QB. it’s time to see if clemens is the type of QB who can carry his team.

let’s get it started already. put #11 in.

  37. I am not a Pennington hater, but I have to pin this lose on Chad. Yes, Nugent and the run defense wear goat horns too, but Chad’s INTs were all crucial. The first one Sam Madison left his man going deep to jump the pass to Cotchery. Think about that…what CB leaves the deep man to jump the pattern on the short pass? One who doesn’t fear the long pass. A terrible pick in Giants territory. The second pick, again deep in Giants territory was one of the worst passes and decisions of Chad’s career. And, the last was, again, a jumped short pattern for a TD. Now, we can fault the defense for giving up a 98 yard drive after the second Chad pick, but let’s not minimize how huge and how deflating that pick was. The Jets were leading 24-21. A TD puts the Jets back up 10 points with 12 minutes (or less) left in the game. Do the Giants still run? With just a FG, the Giants still would’ve run, but that pick changed the whole complexion of the game. The last pick was icing on the cake, but that was another bad pick and the Jets could’ve still won the game, even with the poor 2nd half run defense.
I do not know if Clemens is the answer, but the Jets have had 2 games that have turned on Chad picks and 3 INTs have been on jumped patterns. The NFL has figured Chad out and like I said last week, Chad has to be perfect because of his inability to stretch a defense vertically for the Jets to win. Well, he’s been far less than perfect these past 2 weeks. Plus, let’s not forget that teams play up in the box because of the lack of fear as to the deep ball. That has negatively impacted the run offense.
Yes, the run defense is awful, the OL is not good at opening up holes in the running game and Nugent had a bad FG miss, but the last 2 weeks, all that would’ve been wiped away by good QB play.

  38. After reading most of your quotes and points I think the onus is on the offense. No running game and quick 3 and outs makes for a long day for a defense. Not to mention the WRs getting creamed while they are exposed on some passes. Chad had more time today than we’ve seen in the past few games and stunk up the Meadowlands. It is on him today and I’ll be waiting to hear if he says as much. Is it just me or has he been real quiet in the media?

I don’t know if Clemens is ready or not or if he’s as bad as some of you feel but I do know that Chad is supposed to get Ws and if he’s not…well we all know his shortcomings.

Considering part of my optimism was based on Chad being healthier a year after surgery and rehab he does not seem stronger. Perhaps it is even his ankle that is making his arm even weaker. There were definitely visions in of this weakness in `06 and he had 16 INTs last year to only 17 TDs. If the offense could sustain drives I think the defense would look better than they did.

  39. chad played horrible today with the 3 picks..they def cost us the game, but I don’t really think its his arm strength that caused them..just really bad decisions. im a fan of his, but at his point..its going to come a point really soon that clemens has to play. remember its only year 2 of mangini..last year was great, but its time to get better players, and even if we do make a late season run for the playoffs, with NE being so good in the AFC the chances of the jets making it to the superbowl are close to zero..
