Coaching is a balance between the conviction to follow your ideas and flexilibility to recognize you have made a mistake. While a broken clock is right twice a day, I think Mangini has made a mistake and needs to show more flexibility.

  2. You know, I have alot of respect for Mangini sticking with Pennington right now (not that I’d have a problem at all if he went with Clemens). Look, what are YOU doing right now (other than reading this blog)? Are you working, maybe slacking off a bit instead of doing your job? Mangini is working and his job is to do what’s right for the team. He’s a smart guy and while all of us armchair coaches obviously know better (sic) than the HC what’s best for the team, I guess we’ll have to go with whatever the guy who actually spends 14 hours every day working on this stuff decides.

He watches them both in practice – if Clemens looked better, I’m sure he’d go with him. If (when) we’re eliminated from the playoffs, then we’ll all get our wish and see Clemens. 7 or 8 games will be plenty of time for KC to show what he can do – if not, then he can’t do it anyway. It pains me as much as everybody to watch Chad, but if he makes the change and they still stink, then what are we all going to debate? Maybe Mangini wants the JETS to come together as a team and start playing a little better BEFORE putting KC in, to give him more of a chance.

You have respect for Mangini, but don’t respect my right to express my opinion on a blog? How is my job relevant to Mangini’s competence? You are a joke.

Mangina sucks and has to be the worst excuse for a coach since kotite and coslet. Keep defending him maybe we get the number 1 pick next year.

He’s Mangenius everything he does and says is brilliant.

  6. Paul – I’m a joke because I respect Mangini? Looks the the joke hit a nerve. I think everyone should be able to express their opinions on a blog, I just think it funny that everyone is such an expert on everything, all the time. My point is just that knee-jerk reactions are so pointless. One year he’s a genius, next year he’s an idiot. How about somewhere in between?

Your job isn’t relevant to anyone’s competence (except maybe yours). The point was that as his job is coaching the team, he probably knows a bit more than all of us experts. But why think that, when we can criticize every single move that doesn’t work, all the time, ala the NY sports media.
