Buzz: Adrien Clarke on the Precipice?

Cannizzaro slides into his article today on Pete Kendall the possibility of Adrien Clarke being benched and the reunion of him and his old teammates this weekend that Adrien Clarke is likely on the outs.

Pete Kendall was on the other end of the phone line with The Post yesterday and there wasn’t a trace of gloating in his voice, not even when he was informed that his replacement at left guard, Adrien Clarke, is about to be benched by the Jets this week.

Benched by the Jets? From whence did this announcement come? From a quick look, looks like other writers might think this is the right move, (to which I would resoundingly agree) but might not be gospel, at least not yet.

As far as who would step into that role at LG, it’s tough to say. Bender didn’t see action last week, but was activated, do the Jets think that Panthers cutdown casualty Will Montgomery is the hold-the-fort guy they need? What about Adrian Jones, who has languished on this team for the past two seasons? My money is on Montgomery at the outset, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bender could get some snaps before year-end.

  1. It’s time for the Jets to go on a “Bender” at left guard.
