I just put together an article for FO, but it will probably be on ice for a while until Colts-Pats settles down. The short story is that the recent history does nothing to support Bishop’s contention that QBs who come in mid-season take a leap in their second season. Washington and Tennessee are both winning, but they’re doing so on the strength of their defenses. Campbell is playing at the exact same level as last year, and Vince Young has gotten worse. Generally, the only quarterbacks who improve substantially in their second season are ones who bombed spectacularly when they were thrown in- Eli Manning, Alex Smith, etc. Otherwise, quarterbacks tend to play at the same level or, in the case of guys who played well in their mid-season stint, regress.
