Coles Likely Out Against Cowboys

After suffering an ankle sprain in the Jets Steelers game on the second play of the game, it’s unlikely that Coles will be back on the field Thursday in Dallas.

Laveranues Coles suffered a high left ankle sprain in yesterday’s 19-16 overtime victory against the Steelers at Giants Stadium and it’s highly unlikely he’ll play on Thursday against the Cowboys, according to someone who spoke to Coles after the game. That person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he’s not authorized to speak on injuries.

By “person familiar,” Hutch means “his agent who doesn’t want people to think he’s faking it, since it might hurt his next contract, and thus his commission.” We all know Coles is tough and is going to play if he can, so let’s hope he can get back out there to help his team soon, but at the same time, it might not be the worst thing with this season looking the way it does to be cautious.

So when you think back about Clemens’ stats so far this season, factor in that the best receiver on his team hasn’t been available for about 2.5 of 4 total games (thus far) started by the kid.
