Chad’s Dad Speaks Up

by Bassett on December 23rd, 2007 at 9:20 am

Chad’s father has made statements about his son’s time left with the Jets.

“After you become an eight-year veteran, you see it as a business and you know how the organization does things.  With the new coaching staff and organization, they’re going to go in a different direction. Chad doesn’t fit into either’s plans as far as the future is concerned. He’s at the end of his career and he wants to be somewhere he can compete for the starting job, win games and maybe get to a Super Bowl.”

What a Classless regime! The worst possible combination. A bellicheat ATTITUDE without the bellicheat LUCK or SKILLS. This regime will keep the franchise in ruins for many years to come.
As a naive Jet’s fan I want to believe … but the more I see the more I get demoralized. Shame on Woody and his Capologist. Advise for Mangini…start looking for another job.

Nikolas, what’s the shame here? Giving up on Pennington? Even if you gave Chad a great OL and a pass-catching TE, defenses would still play 8 in the box and DBs would still jump his patterns. Maybe Chad goes out today and has more zip on his passes, but his speedometer is limited and his odometer has a lot of miles. He’s not the future of the franchise and, for what it’s worth, the franchise allowed him to come back, compete for the job, win it and earn Comeback Player of the Year. All this when it was pretty clear that Chad is not Mangini’s guy…he clearly wants more verticality, which is a signature of the Parcells/Belichick coaching tree.

SackDance I think you were one of those who supported this regime when they were playing games with Pete Kendall. These people knew (or not) that without a solid OL no QB can succeed. Chad as well as Clemens sunday after sunday run for their lifes. Injury in their case is much much higher than the average allowed by the game. To be an apologist for this regime is a heroic act but not fair for the Jets fans. Woody and Tannenbaum make me sick.

As for the Parcells/Belichick coaching tree I think you are dreaming. Desire is not reality.

Frankly, I don’t give an F what Penny or his dad think. He is our property. Given the sorry state of this franchise, we cannot afford to just let him go. We have plenty of cap space and Kellen costs no more and may be worth a lot less.

I’d tell Chad and his agent, go get yourself a deal. But know this now. We will trade you out of our conference for a second round pick, out of our division for an early second round pick and in our Eastern division for a number one pick. If you can work something out within those parameters great. Otherwise….

That will show him what he is worth and hopefully avoid all the drama of the PK saga.
