Dorsey’s Draft: Week 17 Finale

Finishing up the last week of the season, is the 2007 version of my ‘Bush League’ posts … Dorsey’s Draft.

In this series, we explore whether the Jets have what it takes to capture the top spot of this season’s draft amidst stiff competition.

It’s getting tense for many Jets fans … lose and have the ignomy of losing to the Herm Edwards Circus and secure a top five pick, or win and move down in the draft.

This week we will look at the teams with three wins, as they are the most notable contenders this week.

The SoS breakdowns of the teams with three wins and predictions after the jump …

New York Jets 3-12
Kansas City (4-11)

Crystal Ball: The Jets haven’t quit on their coach, and are still going out there to play for pride, meanwhile the Chiefs have lost eight straight. I just don’t see them losing to this team.
Final Record: 4-12
What This Means:
It’s hard to know exactly until the dust settles tonight, but it could mean that the Jets can fall from as far as #3 to as low as #7. With the other 4-Winners having tough competitors, (PIT @ BAL, SD @ OAK) it’s hard to imagine either of those teams helping the Jets out much. There are added benefits for the Jets to drop in terms of cap room and signing an unknown commodity to a large contract. Either way, with a solid scouting staff, the Jets are in a good position to get potential contributors at the top of the 1st and 2nd rounds or move around to other teams looking to move up.

Atlanta 3-12
Seattle (9-6)

Crystal Ball: This could be Holgrem’s last regular season game with his team. Even if he rests players can they still beat a listless Atlanta team? Likely.
Final Record: 3-13
What This Means:
They’ll secure a top three pick, and could potentially someone to immediately upgrade their offense like Darren McFadden with that pick.

Saint Louis 3-13
@ Arizona (7-8)

Crystal Ball: After an on-field squabble last week between Scott Linehan and Torry Holt, it’s hard to know whether this team has completely given up on their coach. Indications are that they have. Playing a division rival is one thing that points to an “Any Given Sunday” scenario, but the game is away and Arizona is coming off a confidence boosting win.
Final Record: 3-13
What This Means:
Another rebuilding year for the Rams, with questions about coaching and management. Could they draft Jake Long to to anchor the line for the long-term?
