Thanks for the research Liam. The Bills took a lot of heat with the Donte Witner pick. He clearly was picked 4-6 slots early. But they filled a need.

If a guy we want is a just a bit of a reach, we either trade down and gamble he is there or reach. We need to upgrade the front 5 on O and front 7 on D. I think 3 OL and at least 4 on DL. Even with the cap space, we may not get it done in one year, but there is no way we get it done if we use the cap space and first day draft picks on other positions.

Fool me twice . . . we won’t get fooled again.

The two potential 3-4 OLB’s we’ll hear alot about are Vernon Gholston of OSU and Derrick Harvey of Florida. Depending on workouts it might or might not be a reach to grab one of those guys at number 6. There’s also a chance Chris Long falls to us- especially if Atlanta takes a quarterback instead of McFadden.

I agree about the RBs – Jones and Washington are a good tandem, we have much bigger needs than McFadden.

And I agree about that pass – that’s why some of us still think Clemens can develop into a good QB. Even before Pennington had all the injuries, he couldn’t make that throw.

I hope McFadden and one or two QBs go before our pick (that would mean more of the beef are left for us to choose among).

I think at 6, our best hope is an OLB. But I am not sure any dominating OLBs will be in this draft. I don’t mind a little a-la-Bills reach (4 picks or so). But I think this is a draft filled with 4-3 personnel and ILBs like Laurenitas.

If we don’t go RT, we need someone to replace BLT and Bowens.

I know it doesn’t mean alot but the best throw of the day was the one where Clemens threw it 65 yards right in the arms of Cotchery and he dropped it. Clemens deserves some heat but lets be fair.

He’s also shown an ability to drive the team down the field in 2 minute drills. Remember Baltimore week 2, and how McCariens killed them twice or it would have been tied? And against Washington in Overtime, Cotchery dropped a huge 3rd down pass that would have put them in field goal position. And then yesterday . So its not been all bad for Kellen.

Agree. Dont give up on Clemens. But, I haven’t seen much that made me think “give him 10 more games and he’ll be a real QB” Revis , by contrast, even when he had some early gaffes, showed a lot of promise as soon as he started playing. I respect the way Mangini shows total confidence in his players, but I hope they keep paying Chad to be the backup.

I don’t think McFadden will be there (Atlanta) even if the Jets wanted him. I sure hope they get a NT. The Jets were 29th against the run, but unlike most of the other bad defenses, they didn’t give up very many long running plays (8 0ver 20 yds, ZERO over 40 yards) – I’m interpreting this as LB and DBs playing well against the run and the line not so much, which was also how it looked watching the games.

Best throw of the day was unquestionably the Clemmons pass to Cotchery that JC dropped. If he had caught it, today’s conversations about KC would be meaningfully different.
