  1. You need to fix link #1.

  2. We all know how in New York we want instant gratification. I am a Chad supporter but I still wanted to see what Clemens had, especially when the record was 1-8. Saying that though, I never thought that people would start blaming Chad for the bad season and then with no justification they want to elevate Clemens to a starting QB. Those who want Clemens, because they feel that he has more talent than Chad, should realize that young QBs need time to absorb the game, learn and mature and if this process is not completed-unless we talk about tremendously taleneted players, like Peyton, Marino, Elway- the young QB can be ruined. This are the lessons of History in the NFL. High QB draft picks who have been thrown into the wolves to save franchises.

That the media and some Jets fans put on the Jets organization in replacing or even trading Chad has the same logic and does worry me. Save the franchise with a young QB. And we know, or at least we have seen him that his no Elway.
I hope-just hope because I still do not trust the FO- that the Tangin regime overcomes the pressure and they take into consideration the NFL experience that such a move can ruin even Clemens career.
The Jets may simply end up with no QB for several years.

  3. Chad was replaced because he was no longer able to make NFL-quality throws on a consistent basis. With a lost season at 1-7, the Jets gave the ball to Clemens to see what he could do as QB. Chad fully earned his benching and I’ll gladly re-post all of my prior postings showing that Chad’s play declined to a point where the Jets would be better off with the likes of Sage Rosenfels, a jorneyman who would cost a fraction of what Chad makes.

Not all QBs have to sit for a number of years or have to be tremendous talents to excel. Brady started 14 games in his second season, won a Super Bowl and has never looked back. Big Ben started 13 games as a rookie. Peyton started all 16 games as a rookie, went 3-13, and in his second season went 13-3. Favre started 13 games in his second season. McNabb started 6 games as a rookie. Kurt Warner played in the Arena League, but started 16 games in his 2nd NFL season. All of these guys have played in Super Bowls and were in the top-10 in QB rating this year. Romo, Garrard and Matt Hasselbeck sat for a while and Garcia cut his teeth in the CFL, where he sat for one season (behind Flutie) and then ignited a QB controversy filling in for Flutie his second season.

It may be that whether a QB is a successful NFL QB or not is something that, generally, is shown early on. That’s why I am not at all confident that Clemens should get the benefit of the doubt and maybe the Jets should draft a 1st round QB, sign a veteran that has a similar skill set as Clemens, so only 1 offense has to be installed, and have an open competition for the starting job.

In retrospect it may seem that the Chargers and Jacksonville (maybe even Cleveland) wasted first-round picks for QBs when they had good QBs on their roster, but sometimes you have to see who rises to the top. Since QB is such an important position, I have no problem with having too many NFL-quality QBs, especially since it doesn’t seem like the Jets have one, and the NFL is in an era of awful QB play.

But, no matter what, the Chad-era has to be over. Chad may still have something left in the tank, but the Jets have to see what Clemens can do and, because their skill sets are so different, it makes little sense to keep both.

  4. I concur with SackDance99 that Chad must go and I am a Chad supporter. We need a QB who can throw a pass longer than 6 yards. Hopefully we can get a draft choice for Chad.
But the JETS are doing the right thing is “saying” they want to keep Chad. Keeps the price up.

  5. Editor and Sackdance….I am sorry guys! You don’t get it why Chad is the only choice. By the way I just heard on WFAN Tennebaum stating that Chad is part of the Team’s plans. So get off Chad’s back …..QUITTTTTTTT!!!!

  6. im sory…but i think we have the best combo of qb’s…chad and kellen are good…but kellen imo isnt ready…chad gives us the best chance to win…and im tired of hearing he has no arm strength…i’ll take brains, accuracy, balls in the pocket and game management over a guy who can throw the ball 65 yards…zipping the ball with no accuracy means nothing…the coaches just need to have better plays…have better protection…and you’ll see chad pick teams apart…no more stop routes…work the middle of the field if he’s not good throwing to the sidelines…which i think is bogus…i mean if u run the same play 10 times in a game…the cb will jump the route and take for 6…use ur te more…use ur rb out of the backfield more…in the end of it all…any qb who has 2 seconds to throw the ball will end up on his back for a sack, incomplete pass or an int…so keeping chad is a great idea…fix that horrible line and let them compete…chad is a hell of alot better then most qbs out there…an excellant team player…not saying kellen isn’t…but to little to judge the guy on…he like chad needs an ol in front of him…and then maybe we’ll see a more brainy, accurat, balls in the pocket game manager from kellen…who knows…maybe with 4 seconds in the pocket we might just see that from him…or not…let the best of the 2 play…

  7. also…c.baker is alot better than most people give him credit for as a TE…he has very good hands…the guy makes all kinds of catches and still under utilized…he drops 1…he’s no good…come on…he’s the best TE we’ve had since micky schouler…sorry, not good in spelling names…anyway, get off his back 2…the OC needs to get him the ball more and also get the rbs involved in the passing game a little more as well…then you’ll see lanes opening up for our recievers more and more…but we cant do anything without an OL…as simple as it gets…just fix that line…

  8. Nikolas, all SD is trying to say is that we cant have 2 QB’s with diff style within one offense. So if Chad stays then KC has to go. Now Chad has more trade value, higher cap consequence and importantly, he’s not SB caliber. So it makes sense to let Chad go, draft Matty and keep a similar skill level 3rd stringer. I have always loved Chad, but sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on.
