Jets Ink Two Linemen
The Jets have continued their Replacements-level shopping spree signing two players as of late last week. Wayne Hunter, who was with the team the last week of the season was re-signed as well as DL Thomas Johnson.
Wayne Hunter played collegiately at Hawaii, and had bounced around from Seattle to Jacksonville. Although he was rated highly out of school (being a third round draft pick) it seems that he’s had some violence issues (a nice complement to Gentle Jim over at Left Tackle) having been cited for an assault on his girlfriend AND slamming some dude into a shuffleboard table at a sports bar. Hmm.
Believe me I’ve made mistakes, and the hope is that some time away from the game and some maturity have tempered him. It seems that he has gone to court-ordered anger management sessions, which I hope have helped.
Thomas Johnson (6′2″ 300 lbs.) was an undrafted lineman who has spent time under Parcells’ wing in Dallas.
