Maybe I’m biased living in Boston and all, but in my mind I’ll take a Patriots loss at any cost at this point.
Even, *sigh*, at the hands of the Giants in the SB if it comes to that.
Here are the 8 eventualities in order of my preference, and I’d be shocked if most Jets fans differ drastically:
Pats lose to SD; Giants lose to GB; GB wins SB.
Pats lose to SD; Giants lose to GB, SD wins SB
Pats lose to SD; Giants beat GB; SD wins SB.
Pats beat SD; Giants lose to GB; GB wins SB.
~~~~~ the disaster line ~~~~~~~~
Pats lose to NE; Giants beat GB; Giants win SB.
Pats beat SD; Giants beat GB; Giants win SB.
Pats beat SD; Giants lose to GB; Pats wins SB.
Pats beat SD; Giants beat GB; Pats win SB.
Even if you casually root for the Giants as a New York fan, you’ve got to admit that going into the season you felt that the Jets were better suited to be contenders than the Giants and watching them succeed has to sting.
Man, Miami has become a fuzzy bunch of lovable losers haven’t they? I’ve let my level of venom slip drastically.
