Film Room: Malcolm Kelly Highlights

by Bassett on February 12th, 2008 at 5:48 pm

Over the course of the next few months, we are going to try and run highlights most every day of college players that you might or might not be familiar with, but could be names you will be hearing more as the Draft approaches. Today’s installment: Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly.

Kelly is just the WR that people have suggested would help the Jets … tall (6’4″) big (215) … but is he fast (4.5ish 40) enough? Ranked among the top Wide Receivers, his status will be cemented depending on how he tests at the Combine and in Pro Days. My hope a few months back was that he would be there for the top of the second round, but at this point, that seems an unlikely conclusion with both Kiper and Scouts Inc. ranking him amongst their top players.

other than the fact that he isn’t a need…he does seem to have hands, size, speed and balance…i wouldn’t mind having him on the jets…but we need linemen and olbs…just my thoughts…

if we end up trading down and picking up another low rd.1 (realistic? i don’t know.), i would love to have him. big as hell, and he sure looks fast and explosive to me. he knows how and enjoys getting up and after the bowl. the big man shows it going down low, on the sidelines, and, after a long run, in laying his body out to get underneath the ball; catching up with the ball at it’s lowest point and giving himself the most time to catch up with it. and of course he shows the opposite dedication, going to the ball at it’s highest point when that’s the football play to make.
