Overview: Faneca’s name has been the buzz of the boards, mostly because he’s been upset about his contract since last summer and as a player who’s been to the Pro-Bowl a few times, he’s got a name for himself. After standing firm on giving a raise and extension to their own Guard who was over 30 last year, are the Jets willing to voluntarily enter a similar situation?

Scouting Report: Faneca is one of the better guards in the NFL but has struggled in pass protection in recent years, along with his line. Even so, he rarely gets beat and is an impact player in the run and the pass. Faneca has good size for a Guard, and has good explosion & quickness. He can play well in space, and is a natural leader amongst his teammates.

Recommendation: Faneca is a player on the decline, but even so, is better than most other free agent Guards on the market. Price tag will be the key determiner as well as length of contract, at age 31, it’s hard to say how long his high level of play will continue. I would imagine that there will be one team willing to pay close to the dollar amount for which Faneca is looking, but I doubt that team would be the Jets.
