Film Room: DeSean Jackson Highlights

by Bassett on February 21st, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Over the course of the next few months, we are going to try and run highlights most every day of college players that you might or might not be familiar with, but could be names you will be hearing more as the Draft approaches. Today’s installment: Cal’s WR phenom DeSean Jackson.

If you like highlight reels, you are in for a treat. A high school product of Long Beach Poly, one of the premiere schools for grooming NFL prospects, Jackson has continued his amazing pace in college, and as mentioned on this highlight reel, is rumored to run a 4.29 second 40 yard dash. I’m not sure what Jackson’s weight is, but he strikes me as a similar size to Ted Ginn — under 6 feet tall, and under 180 pounds — which could concern some pro teams.

I would love to have him on our team! But he is a luxury pick and not a necessity, he has elite and I mean elite speed, he can probably outrun any defender in the NFL. But having him in our 5yr dump-off offense would be a waste of his talent. I see him going to the Cowboys which I hate to say

I agree with Jeff. Under the right circumstances, DeSean could be a monster but, until we have a solid O-Line and the right QB — he would become a concussion victim and be a wasted pick. That is why, when speaking of Laverneus Coles, he deserves the money that he is looking for. He has given up his body and his career, to fit into our screwed up system. I wouldn’t want to be in man coverage against DeSean. I hope the Colts don’t get him.

He seems to be a better WR than Ginn. Better route runner with better hands. Not that I think the Jets should pick him. Also, didn’t Troy Williamson also run a 4.29?

Lol he was listed at Cal as 6’0″ rumors had it he was closer to 5’11″ turns out after measurements at the combine he is only 5’9″.
