Combine Interviews

I am going to be busy the next couple of days with watching Combine on the NFLN … so less posts this weekend …

It seems that the Jets are focusing on their second or lower picks in terms of meeting with players while at the Combine.   I can’t be sure of all the players the Jets have met with, but here are some of the names that have been floated on the web.

James Hardy, Indiana (WR) 6′6″ 220lbs — Not sure about his speed, but right now the player is listed around the time the Jets second pick in my MDM.  He’s apparently happy with his  personal 40 times, so he could be moving on up.

Gary Barnidge, Louisville (TE) 6′6″ 230lbs — Not just a TE but a potential long-snapper, Barnidge’s size could translate well into the H-Back role that Schotty seems to have an affinity for.

  1. Bassett,
Have you heard anything about that kid from M-State? I saw him running and the announcers were pretty high on him.

  2. Kellen Davis is the TE you’re talking about. He is very talented, but some people question if he truely enjoys playing the game.

  3. Davis – Great athlete. Not exactly dominant at the pro level, but I bet his highlight reel looks good. He also played some DE as a pass rush specialist!

Barnidge is good in the red zone. Hardy is a potential blue chipper but has baggage. Great hands and it was reported he previously ran in the 4.4’s so we’ll see.

  4. Was wondering about D’Brick’s workout numbers. Particularly his bench press reps. He only put up 19 reps. I really hope he’s getting into the weight room because as agile as he is, he doesn’t have much of an initial punch and I think that is what really holds him back from being a very good LT. He just can’t redirect guys well enough off the line.

  5. You can visit http://www.GaryBarnidge82.com to read up more on Gary Barnidge and some more background info.

  6. As Former Hoosier I am a bit biased, but Hardy would be good fit for Jets. Deceptively fast. Not blazing speed, but gets open. Would be perferct at 6′6 for fade routes and jump balls in endzone where Jets lacking size

  7. No way Hardy makes it past the 1st round.

  8. I agree with Matt and Vb. I wouldn’t mind if Tannenbaum pulled off a trade to move up and take Hardy. Our number two and three to move up for Hardy. If you check his stats, you will understand that, this guy is a TD machine. His interview showed, he has a head on his shoulders. I would love to see him in the red zone.
