For $35MM, $20MM Gauranteed; I'm thinking Jenkins & Faneca will be model players committed to the company line.

He'll work out. He'll play, and he'll say what he's suppossed to say.

Somehow, I don't think Jenkins will handle the new york media like Eli Manning....and it doesn't matter. Just stop the damn run up the middle. Wouldn't care if he had "0" sacks if we stopped the run. Maybe this will free up the other front 6 to get sacks. I wonder how many more sacks we'd have had in '07', if we had prevented people from running, and forced them to 3rd and longs? (Long's...I love the sound of them...Jake...Chris)

3-4 is not such a sack producing / or mega sacker producing defense. We don't need another Gastineau or Strahan if we get "W" 's...Sacks seem to be spread around more, with the flexibility and different looks the 3-4 defense can provide. Woolfork have many sacks? nope.

Let's hope Jenkins likes playing the nose in a 3-4. The position, not to mention the scheme, is not for everyone. I'm sure the Jets have been speaking with Jenkins throughout this process -- and the extra dough helps -- but the reality of it all might turn Jenkins sour.

That extra pick for Jenkins might be a calculated throwaway by the FO. Remember, the Jets are staring at a monster contract if they stay in the draft's sixth slot, not to mention other FA signings and a possible Rhodes extension.

I know a fifth-rounder doesn't take up much cap room in the grand scheme of things, but every little bit counts. That saved salary could be the difference in getting a draft pick in camp on time, landing a needed FA or keeping what is now the team's best player around for while.

His brother at GreenBay may be the Jenkins that we should get, but at least we have some girth in the middle!

Love the pickup. Apparently he's got a 5-year dela in place worth about 35 mil with 20 mil guaranteed. Might be a little much ut we definitley need that Ted Washington-type run stuffer in the middle demanding 2 blockers on every play. Please sign Faneca now!!!!!!

That answers my earlier quesion. Basically a three year extension with (I would assume) most of the money over the next two years which would have been payable anyway now guaranteed?

They must have some confident doctors.
