You do not get value for a trade in the NFL, between salary cap, FA, and the draft there is just so much value that you can get for a player that is being traded, as in any commodity, leverage is the key and once you put a player out ther you lose leverage.

Both Jenkins and Faneca are stop gaps to keep us competitive. I expect to see more of these types of pickup/trades. its difficult to get that 24 year old soon to be monster signed for a long cheap contract.
the 3 year deal is just that, a three year see what you got but we're not paying big bucks or giving a long term contract.
we're good on DT. if Rob stays or goes IMO for the next few years if not longer.
now, sign Faneca so we can move on.

If they get Faneca I think he is being paid to teach just as much as open up holes and keep ? off their QB back. BTW screw Don Banks

The next question becomes when do we need to pick up replacements for guys like Jenkins and Faneca who have about four years tread left? Extending Pouha for three doesn't seem likely to be the guy they have in mind. I'd be watching the draft, maybe this year, maybe next. For instance, if Carl Nicks is taken in the second round, they may be already preparing to replace Faneca, or a tackle to be named later. I think that's how the front office has to think or you're over-paying for free agent talent.

[...] Matt Loede wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptIt seems an odd time to extend Pouha, but if they think he’s the right guy for the job, they might as well. This might be a sign that the Jets are in fact close to a deal to move Robertson, but that’s just guessing on my part. [...]

apparently the jets set the market for trad values for monster d-tackles - Shaun Rogers was juts traded to the Bengals for a 3rd and a 5th. What is D-Rob's trade value compared to these two - hopefully we will find out.

Pouha was playing well at the end of last season. I'd like his time to grow, even with Jenkins aboard. Jenkins has a tendency to get a little lazy.

I hope they move D-Rob soon, and can get at least a 3rd for him. Dallas got squat for Jason Ferguson.
