Jets Interested In Lito Sheppard?

by Bassett on March 1st, 2008 at 10:53 pm

MDS was working some overtime at ProFootballTalk today and noted that

A league source tells PFT that several teams are showing preliminary interest in trading for cornerback Lito Sheppard. Those teams include the Texans, Saints, Buccaneers, Browns, Rams and Jets.

Since he’s under contract by the Eagles, they are going to want something in return … At this point, I’d imagine that the Jets are looking to hold onto their draft picks, so unless they are willing take Dewayne Robertson in trade, this move for the Jets would be unlikely as the Jets will be likely hold onto those top two picks.

wouldnt mind another quality cover corner remember hes not that far removed from being a probowl player maybe just needs some knew scenery

He’s had a tough time playing a full-season for the last six years. He’s actually only accomplished that feat once. I’d give the guy a chance; but that’s because I’m charitable.

If we could trade Drob for Sheppard we would be getting a player that fits our scheme; and dropping the huge salary of one that doesn’t.

If Coles wants a trade then ship him and a late second day pick.

going for sheppard is a new brainer hes a top corner in the league and still young. him and revis at corner for the next group of years is just a sensational thought. it would solidfy our D

Randall Gay makes more sense to me. A little less talented but definitely serviceable and at a much cheaper price. Not to mention getting him away from the Pats…

Coles and a late round pick for Sheppard. Philly has been lokking for a wideout. Then send D-Rob to Detroit with 4th rounder from the Saints for Roy Williams.

The Jets should really consider this trade, Lito is a pro bowl corner.
I think we should look at either trading Coles or Robertson there and a added 4th round draft pick (the one from the Saints)
