Anything to make the offense better! Last year we lost two games that we would have won if ONE field goal was a TD instead. Five additional games would have either been won or tied if the offense had scored ONE addtional TD. Those two differences would have made the Jets an eleven and five team. Ten and six if they split the ties. Faneca saw the Jets and saw them win. I think that's why he picked them over the Rams and 49ers. If he makes the offense better by seven points a game it will be worth it!

A buddy of mine is a also a huge Steeler fan - said the same thing with one caveat -- it doesn't matter who the Steelers plug at guard in their SYSTEM.

A buddy of mine is a huge Steeler fan, and he made a good point: Faneca will make both the left AND right sides of our line better because he's such a great pull blocker. Is preseason here yet?

I'm not that worried about his age all that much, because as long as they avoid chronic knee problems, offensive and defensive linemen age pretty well. I'm sure the team doesn't expect him to play out the contract, and I think we can expect three solid years and either a renegotiation or his release. Basically a repeat of Pete Kendall, which is fine as long as we have a replacement ready when we release him in three years.
