Buzz: Calvin Pace Heads Home After Visit
Posted on March 3rd, 2008 by Bassett
In the Daily News, Rich Cimini explains that Calvin Pace’s visit to Hempstead did in fact happen on Sunday and that he has headed home to consider his options. At this point, it sounds like it’s between Jets and Dolphins but the Bengals might make an overture.
We’ll see what happens. I just don’t know if this is the right move or not. The money that’s being rumored for Pace seems a tad out of control.

So, has anybody seen this guy play? All I’m hearing from people who haven’t is comparisons to Bryan Thomas. With rumors that we might be on track to signing RT Damien Woody, we’d be free to target DE/OLB in the draft, a deep position this year. I suppose the signing of Pace would give us tremendous freedom if McFadden were to fall.
I’d rather take Gholston in the draft
calvin pace is better then thomas. signing him frees us up to draft anyone we want not basing it on needs and only best player available
Calvin Pace was this years edition of Bryan Thomas, he’s going to get paid too much for only have 1 good year.
we are throwing around alot of money and this is one case where we shouldnt throw it at him… first we have david bowens who was solid last year not spectacular.. secondly, this guy was considered a bust his first 2-3 years and finally in his contract year he plays good.. and thirdly gholston will def be there at 6 for us to take and you know if we dont take him the patriots will probably take him with the 7th pick since their lb’s are old as dirt
also, lets save some money and lock up our own players like rhodes and baker especialy rhodes since the recent enormous contracts that have been given to safeties around the league
if we snag pace. i still would not mind at all drafting gholston(only if mcfadden isnt around he should be that pick if hes there no matter what) because that would give the jets a huge advantage and can do whatever they want at olb n d’e they can rotate 3 solid players all around in different schemes being bryan thomas calvin pace n vernon G. id really like that
We got him – http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3275059
pace last year 98 tackles, 80 solo, 6.5 sacks. thats a great addition for sure to the jets
Good God, that is a lot of money. I feel like the Jets brass is really banking on McFadden falling to no. 6. I say if he does, we trade down with the Cowboys, who really want DMC and draft a much needed big WR.
