I wanted to correct what I said, Hobson is listed on the Jets depth chart as the current weak side ROLB. If that's true, he's been horribly out of position. He's only 6-0, which is entirely too short for what is a pass rush position. Did he and BT switch on passing downs? So, Pace should replace Hobson and BT stays at the strong side. The money is what it is, but Pace should be a huge upgrade over Hobson. The other thing I noticed is that the depth chart listed Harris as RILB and Barton at LILB, but I could've sworn that Harris played LILB...I have to do a better job breaking down film...

Rambo, I assumed that the Jets paid Pace all that money to play on the weak side--the defensive right side--to rush the passer against the opposing team's Left Tackle. If he's playing the strong side--the defensive left side--and covering the TE, then we payed a ton of money to a guy whose job is not to rush the passer. I also thought that BT (at least every time I looked) played on the right side, but generated little pass rush and wasn't that good in run support. I thought Hobson was average on the left side covering the TE, but wasn't even close to being in the class of Adalius Thomas.

Call it what it is. Games are won up-front PERIOD. The JETS add 4 starters to both sides of the line. Dont worry about the money b/c no one really knows the details yet. Jenkins doesnt get all that money if he doesnt weigh-in and make work-out clauses in his contract. So who knows what stipulations are in the Pace contract. Put it this way the Jets are alot better now than 5 days ago and thats all you can ask for in March.

Hey....I liked Lam Jones. NE beats the Giants 9 out of 10 times....they beat them during the season. The Giants have a quaterback who played like an all pro the last 6 games of the season, and a guy named Plexico ...now thats a QB, and WR defensive coordinators fear.

What goes around comes around in life and even football. NE cheated, ran up scores, and has an owner, coach and QB all of questionable character. They should have been disqualified from the playoffs for what they did. Yes, they got out played and out game planned, but fate helped deal them the blow they so much deserved to get. Now thats not Madden logic.....its more in line with the code for behavior in things like the 10 commandments.

Madden logic is only good for playing video game football. NE didn't lose the SB because they were due a loss and the Giants certainly didn't win because "right was on their side". The Giants won because both their lines played better than NE's, which gave their playmakers time to make plays. Who is the Giants superstar RB? Who was afraid of manning 5 weeks before the SB? Brady and Moss would look like Browning Nagle and Lam Jones if the line didn't give them time to make plays.

KnickerBlogger

Madden logic has been around and prospered for 30 years. Espn
changed the way we watch sports.....not bad company to be compared to...and yes the Ravens won a superbowl with a defense several light years ahead of any we will have in 08....they had a fellow name of Ray Lewis...we ain't got no Ray Lewis....we had a guy named Vilma....you remember defensive rookie of the year Vilma...but Mangini brought in a 3-4 and threw Vilma under the bus.....

I want you same guys that love these high priced free agent moves to not cry about not having the right players at the QB,WR,DE, and RB when we score 12 points a game....you will say ....but the D` only gave up 13....BIG DEAL it is an L. You were the same guys that thought taking Brick over Cutler or other first round QB was good....Brick gets beat to often, and Kellen has not shown me much....I know it was all the lines falt. Madden Logic being what it is.

Neil, I understood your first post. Many of these moves are questionable, whether it's the player or the money. The results will dictate the longevity of Tangini. Their picks have hopefully solidified our O-Line and our 3-4 Defense. I agree with those that say the game is won in the trenches. In a 3-4, you must have that run stopping monster in the middle - we now have him. The pressure is different than a 4-3 in that it can come from anywhere. Before you badmouth pressure from a linebacker - see Lawrence Taylor. Another point that I agree with is that, we need a threat. We need James Hardy 6'7" wideout from Indiana. He is a touchdown machine. As far as QB, most of you disagree with me but, I'm a Chad fan. If you give him time, he can pick you apart. With this new O-Line, I want to see if his arm has anything left. Don't go by last year. The year before, he guided us to the playoffs. He was comeback player of the year in the NFL. We had ten wins. Don't blame him for losing in the first round of the playoffs -- New England was the better team. This year might be another story. Tangini is going wild!

"There are 5 positions that create fear and change the outcome of games…….QB, RB,DE,WR and return man... The greatest defense is a good offense. PURE SIMPLE & TRUE"

Stop applying Madden logic/ESPN highlights to the NFL. The 2000 Ravens won a Super Bowl with Dilfer, Quadry Ismail, and 0 return TDs. You're overgeneralizing.
