Harlan,

Thanks for the response. Fair enough. Hopefully it will be a lot of fun finding out whether their approach works out.

Harlan, you make some good points, but you also have to look at the decision o keep Vilma and DRobb last year in perspective. They might have gotten a little more in return, but were there options to fill those positions? I'm not talking about D. Harris - no one thought he would be as good as he is. And did they have the same money to go out and spend like this year? Hindsight is always 20/20.

Bent, you asked so,

I would have preferred a younger OL and a slower approach. But like everyone else, I am very excited by the complete transformation of our team in a week.

But the list of previous Tangini FA mistakes does scare me. Patchy seems too kind to describe the FA efforts (while solid seems to weak to describe the great drafts Tangini have wrought).

If Pace develops as we had hoped BLT would, if Jenkins shores up the middle so the backers do better, if Woody really can put Clement or Moore on the bench and with Faneca open holes for TJ or Leon, this will be great. Imagine if teams of scared of us being in 3rd and 1? That would be a transformation.

But I still think all the optimism needs to be at least be tempered by the fact these evaluations were made by the same guys who decided to keep Vilma and DRobb last year when they were worth more and brought us all those FA who are not going to make anyone's hall of fame.

heeey bent!!! good morning first of all.... hey, the woody thread has the most comments due to his being the last "signing post" =)

going back to our guaranteed $$ issue, just listened to tannenbaum on mike and mike espn radio...had him live at 730am... vanilla interview so if u missed it u didnt miss anything ground breaking...

but they first said it was 70 mil guaranteed...but golic said the ny post has it at 63 and change.... the jenkins $$ is the issue. so i guess it depends on the weight clauses etc on him.

mike and mike didnt ask tannenbaum about the draft....that should have been their last question. I am sure it would have been a "we'll see who is avail and make the best choice for the franchise answer" but it still would have been smart to ask.

all is well today......and this site does rock....

Ian - You note that the previous record was a spygate thread - and ask what does that say about us as fans?

Actually, it reflects quite well, because a lot of it was Pats fans trolling and telling us how badly the Jets suck and that Mangini was a rat and that karma was going to get us. So, most of our input involved us fans defending our team through thick and thin. They got their lesson in karma in the end.

I think one day we will look back and be amazed that Damien Woody holds the record for most commented thread.

Coles has what, 2 years left on his contract? That third year is prime time for a new young receiver. If we draft a WR now, they will be hitting their stride after Coles is gone (assuming we let him play out his contract. I think we at least have to look at that option when #36 rolls around now that we don't really have to address immediate needs per se.

I think we still target defense with the first pick, whether it is the #6 or somewhere else. I'm still not sure we are finished with the MLB spot. We could still draft some young talent there to pair with Harris. Pace takes the pressure off for OLB and if we keep DRob, DE is not as much of a concern either (unless you want to see Ellis gone).

Faneca and Woody's signing solidifies the OL, so OL is only a need for depth.

I am curious to see what they do with the Pennington/Clemens situation though.
