comesimangia, I think you are almost right, but our 5th rounder went to get Jenkins and the other 5th rounder we got from Cincy obviously never happened.

So it's currently: 1, 2, 4, 4 (NO), 6, 7

If you'd like to see your instincts played out in a draft, check out Draft Tek where each team has a representative and drafting logic is programed in. They run it every couple of days and you can make comments on the blog of the Jets rep Dan Riback, who was the subject of Randy's Radar Feb 26th.

Draft Tek is: http://www.drafttek.com/
You can find Dan under the "Contact/About Us" tab.

Does anyone know what we have to deal with interms of picks? 6 overall, 6th in the 2nd round, 2 fourths, and a 5,6, and 7 rounder? Is that right?

I would have no problem taking McFadden if the trade down offers don't surface. The potential is a decent value at six.

Nah, don't hate on DMC. he rushed for 6.3, 5.8 and 5.6 ypc over his career. As his carries went up his YPC went down which is pretty normal. You could make the same argument about Felix Jones you are making about McFadden -- maybe all the attention focused on McFadden allowed the change of pace back to rush so well.

The guy has the combine performance, he has the college production, and there is more of a consensus about his status as the elite college running back then there was about Adrian Petersen. I dont think the Jets will pick him.

I'm really impressed with the posts. Now that we're over our panic attack, I agree with each of them. To get to trade down two things need to be in place. One, DMac is there, and two, we don't have any other pressing needs we MUST fill first. The C'boys are the only team that both needs him and has the trade capital to seal the deal. They have to believe we'd take him or they don't need us.

Our actual needs at CB and WR can be filled with those two picks without changing the rest of the draft picks. The quality and depth at CB and WR are such that any of two or three guys would do.

If we do take DMac, where does Washington go? The FO doesn't seem to think he's expendable. Who is coming up at WR? Who is the second CB?

Subway, some mock drafts have Matty Ice being around when we pick. While I am not enamored with him, Baltimore supposedly is. They might not want to pay a premium for him but someone else might.

At this point, with these signings, I suspect Tangini will be relaxed on draft day.

We could sign another best CB in the draft to star opposite Revis for years.

We could trade down and get a potential WR and something else.

If Matty Ice is there and I am wrong and he is really good, we could pull a Bolts and ensure the future with either Kellen or Matty.

The only thing that will depress me is spending all that money on a spindly legged, baby making, RB who may have excelled in large part due to his OL (c.f. Felix Jones who averaged more yards per carry than DMC).

The dilemma with trading down is that it's likely there will only be willing partners if McFadden is still there at six. Unless by some miracle Chris Long is still there I doubt many teams behind us rate the other potential candidates highly enough to offer anything worthwhile. I do think the FO would trade down if they could. They seem to be employing a sound philosophy of filling key spots with high-end, proven talent that will start for at least three years so they can draft slightly more raw prospects and have good models to coach them into.

With the Free Agent moves the jets have made, we've got a good solid foundation. Now, through the draft, we need to add one or two game changers. If there's a chance to trade down to the middle of the 1rst, and pick up another 2nd round pick, I think you do it. Grab a bigtime WR, and a CB and we'll be looking really strong for next year.
