New Dolphin O-Lineman / Redneck Justin Smiley was on Miami’s 790 The Ticket’s Jorge Sedano show last Friday and he’s already making friends in Hempstead (this clip starts at the 8:35 mark).
Sedano: Fans down here wanted Alan Faneca, because they know the name, tell me why Justin Smiley is a bigger badass than Alan Faneca …
Smiley: HOOOO! Don’t get me started now!! First of all, Alan Faneca is ancient. The guy is about 10 damn years older than me. Uhh … but hey check this out. Everything Alan Faneca brings … anybody can pull some game film up. Go watch all my game film this year. That’ll do the talking. Like I said, Parcells didn’t sign Faneca. They had the cap room to do it and didn’t want to do it. There must be some good things that they saw in me. Uhhh … I just can’t … like I said, I want to let my play do the talking. to be truthful…i barely remember this guys name ever mentioned in all his years in the nfl…and if he thinks he is as good as he thinks he is then i would have had him on my list of o-linemen i wanted the jets to go after…and he’s talking sh!! about faneca…who went to 7 straight probowls…he’s just playing the part of the enemy…anyway,just my thoughts…
Funny to hear a guy who was a major dissapointment and couldn’t seem hold on to his starting job with the 49ers take shots at a 7 time Pro Bowler… way to go Smiley!
The book on Smiley (other than the fact he has constant shoulder problems – bad news for a lineman) is that he is a potential pro bowler in a zone blocking scheme but awful in a drive blocking system. I guess the Dolphins will go with the former.

Someone tell this mental midget that the team with the #1 pick in the draft is not actually the number team in the league. And he does realize Parcells isn’t coaching him either. I guess they skipped the IQ test before signing this guy.

Just for the fact that he said this is going to be an exciting year( in miami) everything he says instantly goes out the door. last years 1 win was exciting for dolphins standards. Ed L, beautiful. Smiley can get two close-up lessons on how to play the position, this year. I am sure the word “Ancient” will be posted on the bulletin board. I can picture Parcell’s face when he hears about this.
I know Smiley and he is a real good guy. He had been drinking Crown at the golf course and he just said some things that he regrets. He has said publicly repeatedly that he has tremendous respect for Faneca.
