New Faces and New Numbers for the Jets
Posted on March 17th, 2008 by Bassett
With some new players in the fold, and current players swapping numbers, here’s a quick guide to who’s who this year:
Incumbent Jets Changing Numbers
CB Justin Miller will move his number from #22 to #21
FB Stacey Tutt will move his number from #45 to #32
New Players Assigned Numbers
LG Alan Faneca will wear #66
DE/OLB Calvin Pace will wear #97
DT Kris Jenkins will wear #77
FB Tony Richardson will wear #49
RT Damien Woody’s number is unknown

Has anyone ever broken down Brandon Moore on film? I’d be curious to hear what they found. When I watch him, I see a solid, not spectacular, but solid player. He maintains decent leverage and rarely makes mental errors. Again though, I’d be curious if someone has looked into this more than I have.
I HOPE #5 IS AVALIBLE FOR THE JETS BECAUSE APRIL 26TH WITH THE 6TH PICK WILL BE MCFADDEN THATS WHY THE JETS IS ADRESSING ALL THEIR NEEDS NOW TRYING TO UNLOAD D.ROB FOR MORE CAP SPACE TO TRADE OR PICK UP A WR. CB. DE.OL. SO DRAFT DAY ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS DRAFT DEPTH!
Hoz – I think you are right in that the the front office wants to actually draft BPA for once, whereas they’ve been digging out of a hole from Bradway for two years.
Also, no need to use all caps … makes it look like you are STEPHEN A SMITH.
WHAT IS THAT HOZ? CAN’T HEAR YOU. TYPE LOADER!
I’m right there with you on all counts!
If #5 was available, McFadden couldn’t wear it. The No Fun League will not allow RBs to wear single digits. That’s why Reggie Bush wears #25.
Yah and kerry rhodes is #25 so its not like DMC could even wear that.
Liam,
ESPN’s Scouts Inc. profile actually has a decent write up on Moore and gives him a grade of 75 and puts him in the top 10 guards in the league.
Seeing the new names and numbers is getting me extra psyched. I know that the popular press-driven notion is that the Jets signings are “risky” but each one makes so much sense that I can’t help being optimistic. I even like the Franks signing. Very low risk, but with tons of potential upside. The Jets went from not having any pro bowlers last season to signing 5 former pro bowlers. I think we all will be very surprised by Faneca and Jenkins. Sure, we already have high hopes for Faneca, but the Jets have not had such a highly skilled run blocker since Mawae left. As for Jenkins, I was high on him last year when Carolina was rumored to want to move him. I like D-Rob, but Jenkins is a monster against the run. I have no questions about his being a superior NT. Harris will have a free shot to blow up running backs. What’s the Jets record for forced fumbles? I still would like a better ILB to be paired with Harris, but I think the run defense is fixed. As for the pass rush, it’s better. A full season of Harris and whatever Pace and BT/Bowens do will automatically improve the pass rush. I’m not sure it will be where we as Jets fans want it, but it could be very good. The only question mark is QB, but I have a feeling that will be addressed either with another veteran signing or through the draft.
Couldn’t agree more SD. It is really starting to become real especially as the Draft approaches. Hope truly Springs Eternal this time of year.
MENDENHALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They’re all #1 in our hearts.
umm. i gotta be perfectly honest.
