I know that the popular press-driven notion is that the Jets signings are "risky" but each one makes so much sense that I can't help being optimistic. I even like the Franks signing. Very low risk, but with tons of potential upside. The Jets went from not having any pro bowlers last season to signing 5 former pro bowlers. I think we all will be very surprised by Faneca and Jenkins. Sure, we already have high hopes for Faneca, but the Jets have not had such a highly skilled run blocker since Mawae left. As for Jenkins, I was high on him last year when Carolina was rumored to want to move him. I like D-Rob, but Jenkins is a monster against the run. I have no questions about his being a superior NT. Harris will have a free shot to blow up running backs. What's the Jets record for forced fumbles? I still would like a better ILB to be paired with Harris, but I think the run defense is fixed. As for the pass rush, it's better. A full season of Harris and whatever Pace and BT/Bowens do will automatically improve the pass rush. I'm not sure it will be where we as Jets fans want it, but it could be very good. The only question mark is QB, but I have a feeling that will be addressed either with another veteran signing or through the draft. Seeing the new names and numbers is getting me extra psyched.
