Coles Reports?
Our old pal Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News is reporting on his blog that Laveranues Coles showed up today for off-season workouts:
According to Cimini: Presumably, Coles’ appearance means his situation has been resolved, although it couldn’t be immediately confirmed that he has a new contract.
He also says no sign of Dewayne Robertson yet.
Coles reporting has to be considered as a good sign, right? Either he has agreed to play for his guaranteed money or the FO has signed him to a new deal, which one would think might include some cap savings.
More details as we hear them .. .

That seems strange to me – that LC would be swayed by another promise for something in the future. I hope they worked out a deal now and got some cap savings. I don’t want to be blogging about this same thing again next year.

Rather than a new contract this year, the Jets may have given Laveranues Coles assurance that he’ll get a new deal or pay raise next season for reporting to the team’s offseason program.
“Coles showed up Monday after sitting out the first week. It appears any extension Coles would get in 2009 will be tied to his staying healthy this year”

ESPN.com ranked the top receivers in the NFL. I was surprised how low Coles is on the list- perenially injured Javon Walker and one-year wonder Roddy White are ahead of him?
