Word is out that the Jets have set up a meeting with one of the best 3-4 DE/OLBs in the draft, Cliff Avril from Purdue.
At 6’3″ 252 pounds, he’s a little on the short side for a 3-4 OLB, but Purdue has a history (Roosevelt Colvin and others) of filling this position at the NFL level.

My dream scenario would be for the Jets to land D-Mac at 6 trade down in roiund 2 for a later 2nd and possibly a 3rd or 4th and pick up some combination of a pass rushing OLB/CB/WR ….

Avril was impressive at the combine and is super fast (ran a sub 4.5 on one of his timed 40′s). He’s not really a reach at 36.

i’d prefer a wide receiver like James Hardy or possibly Dan Connor at thirty six. I just believe there will be a better player available at 36 that we could use opposed to Avril.

Projected 2nd-3rd round pick. Groves would be better if he was available in the 2nd round. I just hope the Jets don’t reach for him at 36. Not sure if his value is quite that high. Really want to maximize value to fill needs in every draft.
