i dont think tennanbaum ever sleeps…..i really dont

i really like this front office for the long haul

  3. avatar droseatwork says:

he looks trimmer. You know how much i dislike a thin front office

  4. avatar 18andOne says:

Interesting that the Bears and the Jets were mentioned. Could these two teams be planning on making another deal involving a running back?

  5. avatar Harvlis says:

Tannenbaum is trading up. If it takes our first and our fourth – great. If we give up our second round pick, McFadden better be the future of the franchise.

we are not going anywhere unless it is to trade up for chris long…..someone will fall to us…its hard to believe that chris long, gholston, mcfadden, will all be gone…and if they are i would definately not mind takin mckelvin or cromartie at 6…i would still be very happy

  8. avatar ramble914 says:

We are going to wind up with one of the following: C. Long, J. Long, M. Ryan, D. McFadden, V. Gholston, G. Dorsey, L. McKelvin. I would refrain from taking Ryan because personally I don’t think he is a top 6 talent and he is no better than KC. Any one of the others will help us at a position of need and they are all arguably top 6 or 7 talent. If McKelvin is good enough to go to the patriots at 7 then he is good enough at 6. Bottom line is that we are going to get a good player at a position where we have a need.

Love all the trade up talk, but once again a dose of reality, Harvlis, trading our first and a fourth will get us from 6th to 5th, not sure why we would be making this move, wouldn’t be for McFadden since if he makes it past Oakland at 4 I don’t see KC taking him with all that money tied up in LJ. Trading our 1st and our 2nd could get us almost to 3rd (its a difference of 600 pts on the trade value chart, our 2nd is worth 540 so it would probably be a 5th thrown in as well), only way we make this move is if we 1) depserately want McFadden or whoever else it is 2) are convinced someone will snap them up or trade up to get them in the 4 spot. I really don’t see any trade up scenarios for the jets coming to fruition in the top of the 1st round this year, doesn’t seem to make sense.

  10. avatar dakar says:

sec & ramble… i agree with both u guys…take who falls to us or try and trade down for more picks…which makes more sense than trading up…just my thoughts…

  11. avatar Drack says:

Michael Tannenbaum, Esq., evaluating talent? Who does he think he is? Jerry Jones?

Going into the draft, expect the Jets to have a trade up their sleeve that was negotiated in advance of the event. And it shouldn’t surprise anyone if that trade partner turns out to be Carolina.

Remember, it was the Panthers that traded their 1st round pick to the Jets last year so they could land Darelle Revis. The two teams also consummated the deal that brought Kris Jenkins to the Jets for draft picks. And now all this talk about Robertson. Might as well add the Panthers’ FO to Tanny’s list of chums, along with the one in Washington.

I don’t profess to be a Panthers roster/cap expert, but I can see the team’s interest in prospects like Ryan, J. Long, Dorsey and McFadden, whose workout yesterday was attended by the Panthers GM (along with Tannenbaum). Could another Jets/Panthers trade be on the horizon?

Carolina has the 13th pick. A swap of first rounders would put the Jets in a position to draft a solid player at a relative value, when comparing the cost of that player to one chosen in slot #6. Maybe D-Rob gets thrown into the mix somehow, with the Jets agreeing to pay a portion of his salary in exchange for a few picks?

  12. avatar billvv says:

BPA, trade down, I can’t go on like this for another month. What else is new?

  13. avatar cbiscuit says:

Agree with sec and disagree with Pat Kirwan – we won’t trade up, and I don’t expect we will find a partner to trade down. Despite what all the prognosticators say, there is no way in hell Jerry Jones gives up both #1s and his #2 for the right to pay DMac and his extended family. Dorsey and Ryan could slide to us and McFadden and Gholston could be gone. In this case do we go BPA or draft for need (DB)?

  14. avatar Harvlis says:

Drack, Very interesting post. Those relationship factors are very important. Excellent insight. As long as they pick the right players, I would be extremely happy with that scenario. Let’s hope it plays out. I want them to have more picks this year, not trade away all of our picks for targeted players.

  15. avatar 96debacle says:

i wouldn’t mind moving back to 13 and taking the best CB on the board. We’d also get a 2nd rounder or 3th and 4th.
I will have to go the devils advocate here and say we trade up into Atlanta.
    For 2 reasons
    1. its a very good chance he will be a franchise RB for the next 8-10 years. why not on the JETS for a change?
    2. no body really thinks its going to happen.

Wasn’t this the same FO that traded the equivalent of a 4th rounder for Jones? could they not also work out a deal with Atlanta who may not want to pay Ryan (If thats there target) 3rd pick money and see giving up some value on the trade chart to spend less on the cap a good trade off?

  16. avatar matt says:

this draft is about vernon gholston…and that’s that.

  17. avatar SackDance99 says:

It is likely that DMc’s agent was there…do you think Tannenbaum may have asked about DMc’s general contract parameters, or is that prohibited? Also, I thought it was interesting that McShay had this to say:

As expected, 6-foot-1, 211-pound McFadden also looked strong during an extensive position drill workout. Perhaps more importantly, we talked to four scouts and not one of them has an ounce of concern about McFadden’s character. This is a good sign, as it comes after teams have done their due diligence in investigating his off-the-field incidents. One of the scouts we spoke with went as far as to say McFadden has elite football character, meaning he is a tough player and an excellent teammate.

  18. avatar Bent says:

Kinda like the point I was making last week. If the Jets or any other team passes on McFadden it won’t be for character reasons, it will be because of the durability concerns, fumbles or simply because they rate someone else as a better fit than him.

A bit like Abram Elam, who may have a skeleton (or two) in his closet but is clearly popular with the likes of Rhodes and his other teammates and by all accounts is hard-working and dedicated. These guys (MT and EM) have shown they will overlook transgressions as long as they are satisfied the individual will give their all for the team.

Doesn’t mean they will, of course…maybe they are trying to convince another team not to be so concerned with his character so that the other team picks him up. After all, if you think you have found yourselves a gem that everyone else is concerned over, what do you stand to gain by blabbing about how good he is to the media? Other than justifying the pick to your fanbase, not much.

  19. avatar You know I know says:

96debacle — if ATL is really interested in Matt Ryan – they don’t trade down below Kansas City. That’s the only other top 7 team that would draft him. If you really want to see the Jets at #3 – it would involve ATL moving to #4 and Oakland dropping to #6 – but that’s too complicated/unrealistic to happen (although all 3 teams would get what they want).

  20. avatar Steve says:

you know i know–Kansas City seems pretty set on giving Brodie Croyle an entire season to show what he can do with this team so if ATL were to trade down with the Jets they could still most likely land Ryan….Now if the Jets would actually give up what is needed to move up is a different story …the Jets already gave up 2 draft picks and now only have 5 for the draft after only having 4 in last yr’s draft. I too do not think its likely that the Jets will move up to #3 but not because ATL is scared of losing out on Matt Ryan

  21. avatar Idiot Parade says:

Steve — KC was dying for Croyle to be the man (did you see HBO series on their training camp – it was pathetic to see them gushing so much over a 23 year old man), but he coudln’t beat out Huard. I’m sure they still don’t want to quit on him, but that know-it-all-guy is right in that only ATL and KC seem to get any press realted to Ryan right now.. anyway, hard to tell KC could easily go DT, OT or CB – cause they really s*ck right now… I hope JETS do NOT trade up. They will get great player at #6 – or hopefully trade down another 4-8 spots and add another pick or two…

  22. avatar cbiscuit says:

KC has a bunch of problems, but QB could be the worst one. Croyle was 0-7 as a starter, and Huard will be 35 by the time the season starts. Drafting Ryan provides competition and a suitable plan B in case the Croyle doesn’t pan out.

  23. avatar turd burglar says:

herm may just be smart enough to do us that favor, although i see them waiting until rd 2 to grab a QB
