I’ve been extremely disappointed in Scout.com all off season. They continue to predict that the Jets will select Sedrick Ellis with the 6th pick. He’s got the same body as Robertson. He won’t fit in our 3-4!!! Why would we draft another 4-3 d tackle? I don’t trust anything they say. Coleman was a tackling machine last year and will be even better if Jenkins plays anywhere near his capability!

By the way, thanks for this great website!!! I moved across the pond a few years ago (I’m now living in Stockholm, Sweden) and I finally found a site that shows my fiancé that I’m not the only crazy Jets fan in the world. Go JETS!!!

    Welcome aboard!

I don’t actually feel that drafting Sedrick Ellis would be as crazy as you think, but it’s probably unlikely anyway.

Really because I thought Kenyon Coleman played better than Shaun Ellis did at DE in our 3-4. Maybe get Kendall Langford later in the draft to be a future replacement for Ellis.

How can anyone think that knocked back Coleman played anything other than terribly? Did folks not focus in on his play?

I watched almost all the games on DVR and focused a lot on line play. Most of our problems came from both DE being pushed back. DROBB would get sealed by two guys to one side. That should mean the DE was singled and should have been able to seal the hole (if there was a lead blocker, the DE would need support of the ILB too.

But both DE were single teamed and knocked off the line of scrimmage consistently while DRobb took the blame for their ineptitude.

Kenyon was a huge waste. Maybe with someone who is immovable so he need not slide over will help. Maybe upgraded ILBs and OLBs will help too. But, given the number of times he was just blown off the line 3-5 yards, I don’t see how.

I don’t want my kewpie doll rescinded, but I saw it slightly differently. Coleman wasn’t great, but was serviceable and I think with better play from the linebackers, the run defense would have been a lot tighter (and it did improve with the DH in there). Shaun Ellis, not surprisingly given his lack of size, was driven off the line on occasions. I definitely agree that Robertson wasn’t the issue though.

Sedrick could, I believe, add versatility and depth to the line, but his knee issues worry me. I also have renewed faith in the concept of Dorsey as a possible 3-4 DE after his arms measured 35.5 inches at his pro day.
